You just never know if college transfers to the NBA. I keep thinking about guys like Jimmer Fredette that looked great in college, and then not so much in the NBA.
Jimmer was undersized and slow. Knetch is like 6’6 and popped on a team full of athletic defenders.

Luka Doncic is expected to miss time with a right wrist sprain.

The 2025 NBA All-Star game will have a pickup style tourney format.

I believe they said the winner of the Rising Star game would make up 1 of the 4 teams. Makes me curious how they'll build the other 3 rosters if that's still the plan. I can't see full 12-13 man rosters.

I imagine certain star players will select their teammates, playground style, but I'm only guessing.

Yeah that makes sense but I'm curious how many All-Star's there would be. 3 teams of 8 would keep the numbers the same. I'd rather see a 4th team added, which does mean more All-Stars but with expansion nearing it makes sense to expand it some. 4 teams of 8 would be fine. You can easily find 3-4 snubs for each conference now.

I'd rather the Rising Star stuff be separate. Keep that Friday night with the Rookie and Sophomores making up US vs World teams. If they want to expand that then have the winning team face the G-League All-Stars.

4th quarter collapse by Warriors against the Spurs but my goodness the refs in this one better get fined.

Jones gets a rebound and I guess he got hit in the head couldn't really tell, but they didn't call anything. So he's holding the ball, walking forward, took 4 steps before Lindy Waters tied him up. The whole Warrior team is asking for a walk, and they call a foul on Waters. So they don't call the walk, and they don't give a jump ball. They inbound and Wemby hits a 3.

Next possession Castle fakes, blatantly walks, I'm watching the Spurs broadcast and their announcers both said he clearly walked. Draymond fouls him, starts asking for a walk, Kerr came all the way across halfcourt way out of the coaches box yelling for a walk, they didn't give him a T because they knew how bad the no call was especially after the previous one.

Turned a 3 point game into an 8 point game. even Castle on the 2nd one knew he walked he was about to slam the ball down when the ref called the foul. And it WAS a foul, but only because they didn't call the walk before it

One of the worst shooting games I've ever seen Steph have 5-16 3-10 from 3 and at least 2 airballs.

Anyone else have the notion that the Suns give up too early on its players? Ty Jerome, that PF in Indiana, also we had that rangy shooting guard with the hops, we even had Christian Wood (he got some PT elsewhere but maybe good thing we parted ways). Is it because they have little faith in their own player development or is it that they can't judge talent well enough? Is it a lack of patience? We certainly have a rotating door of players I feel. Booker never gets to make friends with anyone since nobody stays in Phoenix for more than a couple of seasons!

Let's not go overboard here. Ty Jerome was here from 2019-2020, and that's it. You would expect any player that continues to be in the NBA to improve over 4 years. But should we be kicking ourselves for letting him go? Not really. Same with that PF in Indiana, who is in Chicago now and is just a simple role player.

And just to level-set, Christian Wood played for the Suns at Summer League. That was probably a miss at the time.

I think most of it falls on James Jones, he wants ready now players who can contribute right away. With new FO and management, I think we want to try and build/develop players. Also the new CBA forces us to do as well.

Maybe it's not the best way to describe it, but ever since the Suns traded for Kevin Durant, the team feels like a traveling band of mercenaries. I guess I'm having trouble bonding with the players, like the 2020-21 team.

I could better relate to players like Cam Payne, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and Frank Kaminsky. Even Devin Booker seems more distant this season after the Olympics.

Here is an example of what I miss, although there are much better ones out there.

Maybe drafting Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro is the start of a new trend.

They do give up on players too soon. Every team needs an 11th-15th man and the Suns have failed repeatedly trying to ensure those guys were capable of contributing in a positive manner. They refuse to see a player can contribute positively long-term vs immediately. I can understand getting a veteran who may be able to play if a position is weak but ideally you'll have guys at the end of the bench who are there for the future more than that moment.

If you're consistently developing the end of the bench guys to be role players then it shouldn't be hard to fill holes around stars. You need continuity and developed culture for continued success you can build on but the Suns have regressed in that regard because they've ignored the end of the bench or chosen to fill it with aging vets. That creates a revolving door of guys set in their ways who aren't as willing or able to acclimate to their surroundings. See guys like Ariza, Chandler, Gordon, etc for examples of aging vets that didn't pan out, even as role players.

Suns fans aren't exactly patient either. See Bol Bol for an example. He turned 25 last week and has a lot of potential still. If he doesn't see the floor in back to back games though it's inevitable someone wants him cut or says his days are numbered. The end of the bench guys don't need consistent playing time so much as they need to be consistent when granted time.

The Warriors just got schooled by the Nets. They were up 18 in the 3rd quarter and lost after being outscored 60-34 through the remainder. That was without the Nets having Cam Johnson and Nicolas Claxton, 2 of their better starters. Cam is their #2 scorer and Claxton their best rebounder.

This comes on the heels of a loss to San Antonio. They are showing their hot start was more of a fluke than a resurgence.
