And yes, the Suns could have drafted Murray instead of Bender.

The Suns were never taking Murray after Booker after having just drafted Book. I think the rationale for passing on Fox was Bledsoe but that obviously was a huge mistake. The Eric Bledsoe era was probably the most forgettable 4-5 year run in franchise history.

This is something the Suns need to learn from. Always draft BPA or trade out of the spot.

We saw this mistake repeated in the 2020 draft.

BPA always sounds good in theory but they were never considering Murray which would’ve stunted Booker’s development to some extent. Also not hating on the guy because he’s got a championship but his game is largely dependent on playing off a generational big man. He’s never been an all star/all-NBA guy.

I think if we drafted Murray it would’ve gone badly and he’d be gone before his 2nd contract.

My philosophy is if you draft talent, you always have talent and it can always be traded for a position of need.

An analogy might be, if you buy quality, one always has quality. If you buy an inferior product, it's always going to be just that.

We can agree it would’ve been a helluva lot better than Dragan Bender.

Side note: I thought Chriss was going to be legit after his rookie year. Boy did that end quickly.

The 2016 NBA Draft greatly changed by thought process about the draft. It got me thinking about skills and what a player brings to the table much more than I ever did before.

Such things as speed, shooting, passing, rebounding, assists, basketball IQ, wingspan, jumping ability all became focal points.

Personally, I found it easier to identify NBA talent at the point guard position versus other positions.

I don’t think Nurkic has ever been anything better than a low tier starter who many teams can run off the court.

Fun fact: in his 20 playoff games (all as a starter) his teams are 3-17.

All I wanted out of Nurk was a solid contributor but never expected him to contribute like the Big 3. He seems to be struggling to even do that.

His comment the other day that people expect him to do KD things is hilarious. I don’t know of a single fan that EVER expected him to do that.

I for one just wanted him to show up more often than Ayton. DOH!!!!!

If the Suns could have received the Jusuf Nurkic the Nuggets traded to Portland for Mason Plumlee, I would have been thrilled.

Unfortunately, injuries have taken their toll.
