Beal is already untradeable. We'd have to attach stuff to him just to dump the contract.

KD isn't there but I think combining how difficult the logistics would be to move him and finding a team that wants him and he'd be willing to play for makes him basically untradeable during the season. Maybe a suitor comes along in the Summer.
Right now, yes, Beal is untradable. Maybe he stays that way, if so, we're stuck with him. But if we can get him healthy and make him look like a quality starter or a 6th man of the year candidate for a decent stretch of games I think it's possible to move him albeit for minimal return (maybe just a shorter contract). The real tricky part is getting and keeping him healthy.

As I've said several times, I don't think there's an ideal way forward, everything reeks of desperation whether we stay the course or burn it down. But one of the main reasons, perhaps the most important reason, to tear this all down is to put an end to wasting value trying to fix the unfixable. We don't have much to trade away but if this team teases us for a month or so, I'd fully expect us to throw away our 2031 pick. And I think that just extends our misery.

I think that's why there's some smoke to the Jimmy Butler possibility. He's been as injured as Beal lately. I think Miami lets him walk. If Riley thinks Beal could help more than Butler, which I think is hard to see, it could happen because Beal apparently wanted to be in Miami, so he may waive his no trade to go to Miami. Butler comes here, likely he wouldn't pick up his player option, so we could go under the apron a year early. If Butler did pick up his option, then it's same as Beal. Listened to a podcast, and it is really hard to move Butler anywhere other than Phoenix, that is on Butler's list at least.

For the first time, the Pelicans are open to listening to trade offers on Zion Williamson.New Orleans would need to blown away in order to consider even moving Williamson.Williamson’s contract with New Orleans is now non-guaranteed after missing more time due to injuries.

The Hawks are canvassing the trade market utilizing Clint Capela’s $22.3 million expiring contract for a rotational upgrade.Atlanta is in a position to become buyers only 2.5 games out of the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

that would be a risky trade for any trade partner considering Zion rarely plays. surely this is grandstanding.

The Bulls are willing to trade Lonzo Ball for second-round draft capital.Ball’s $21.4 million expiring deal could help a contending team shed future salary, while having a high-upside backup point guard.Ball is averaging 5.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 17 minutes.

Not for a team willing to gamble like Detroit, for example. They could afford to take him on and give him a look next and if it works then they found a sidekick for Cade and if it doesn't they wash their hands and clear his contract. Zion's deal seems well done in terms of if he doesn't get healthy and produce soon then his team won't be on the hook for him long.

If New Orleans thinks they'll get a kings ransom or even what Zion could have attracted 2 years ago, that isn't happening. Stories out on him. A pair of 1sts is probably the best return available.

I don't know much about Detroit. I agree though. I would consider giving two firsts for him. that's not that much of a risk IMO in the NBA if/when you don't know how those picks would pan out vs. Zion being able to stay on the court. it could be a wash at the end of the day. the interesting part of this scenario would be if a contending team have a shot to land him and he gets healthy again for a long spell. wishful thinking.

The Cavaliers, Grizzlies, Kings, and Lakers are among the contending teams showing trade interest in Dorian Finney-Smith.After shopping Finney-Smith last year, the Nets have lowered their asking price.Finney-Smith is shooting a career-high 44.8% on threes this season.

The Pistons re-sign Paul Reed?

Every time I think I have a clue about the rules, something changes.

He was on a non-guaranteed deal for $8 million this year, roughly. They waived him and since he cleared waivers that allowed them to re-sign him for the minimum. Kind of like we almost did with CP3 before sending him off in the Beal trade. I know there was a lot of discussion about that since he was only guaranteed half his salary and it would have cleared $15 million from the books for us. The key is that the player clears waivers.

I hope the Suns considered Reed as an option once he cleared waivers.

Hopefully they have some other players as trade or free agent options.

Hubie Brown is finally retiring. Classy commentator who I've always enjoyed. He was a solid coach as well when he was in Memphis. Loved the platoon style system he ran. He's a top tier commentator though because his ability to eloquently convey his BB IQ to the masses is second to none. More of an analyst, I suppose, than true commentator like Al was.

Bucks are 14-11 and just won the NBA Cup. So much for Giannis asking for a trade. I knew that talk was premature.

They're on a 13-3 run. Don't believe the final cup game counts for their record or they'd be 15-11. They win 97-81 against OKC.

Figured OKC would lose. Impressive they made a run without Chet. No chance they'd slow down the Bucks without Chet though.

Watching the game now. Giannis carries the ball all the time. It bounces up and he holds it with his hand under the ball. I played bball from 12-24 so I'm pretty sure it is a carry. Why are the refs not calling such obvious things?

What you’re describing is fairly common across 90% of the nba for the last two decades.

Maybe it's easier to see it on Giannis because he's so freaking tall, but IMO he does it more than others.

Flipping Beal for Butler could help, but we're so many on those positions. If Beal can be flipped (to other destinations than Miami Beach) then I want a PF with dog (for Christmas).

If JJ and our new owner sends out 1st rounders or Oso or Dunn I will have a mental breakdown. Let's suck this season, fine, but watching Oso or Dunn play meaningful minutes for other teams the next ten years... I can't take it.

Camara is bad enough.

The Hornets are open to trading Vasilije Micic for second-round draft capital.Micic could interest contending teams in need of more playmaking ability from the guard spot.Micic has a $7.7 million salary this season, which includes an $8.1 million team option for 2025-26.
