Slugging free-agent first baseman Christian Walker and the Astros have agreed to terms, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Friday. The club has not confirmed the deal.
Acquiring Walker constitutes the Astros' second seismic shift in less than a week, as they also traded star outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Cubs for a package that included third baseman Isaac Paredes. Given Houston now has Walker and Paredes to man the corners, it seems almost certain that longtime third baseman Alex Bregman -- a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion -- won't be back in 2025.

Other sources say the deal is worth $60 million over 3 years.

Pissed that the Dbacks were too cheap to match or beat that
I’m a little shocked he didn’t get more. That seems crazy affordable for what he brings. Disappointed we couldn’t get that done to keep him around. Hopefully they got something cooking cause this offseason has not been it lol

Couple questions:

1. Do we get a comp pick for him?

2. Would Josh bell be an option to bring back? Switch hitter and can platoon with Pavin I guess. None of the free agents appeal to me so I may be reaching.

1 - yes, since we made a qualifying offer
2 - not sure
Thanks ! Do you know if it’s their first? I thought in the past that’s how it worked but not sure anymore .

Also not sure if Joc can play first but maybe this opens the door to bring him back ?

The pick will be after the first round. Among the first sandwich picks

I thought he was going to sign for more. Now this really looks cheap of the D-backs to let him go.
