If basketball had the WAR stat like baseball, Richards would have a great one right now.

They do, they have a couple actually.

And yeah, I am sure his score for this game would be very high. His splits have been very good throughout his career, hard to say why he's never been given a bigger role.

They do, VORP (Value Over Replacement Player). His as a Sun is 0.0 right now. It'll grow some after this. You can find info on BasketballReference.com

Booker, Jones, Allen, RO were combined 4/25 for 3s, those long rebounds led to fastbreak pts that kept Wizards in the game. Particularly RO, known for streakyness, shouldn't shoot so many. We were in the game in the 4th due to Jones driving drops and KD unstoppable again.

That seems weird. IDK how that's calculated, but he has way outplayed what Okogie was doing.

You way underestimated Okogie's impact on the court beyond stats. He had 16pt, 10rb, 3stl, 3ast in Hornets' last game in 30min, but his impact was more than that, he was the only one with a positive +/- at +9 on the team which lost the game with 6pt.

You need to look up how VORP is calculated. Its value over replacement player, which means over an average C since he is one. It accounts for role to an extent. Comparing Richards to Okogie in terms of statline won't tell the whole story. They received different assignments. You mentioned WAR and I think VORP is closest to that in the NBA. Comparing bigs to wings is always difficult.

Remember, we also lost 2 2nd round picks as well. It wasn't just Okogie we gave up but Okogie and potentially 2 Oso's. So again, the trade is tough to grade 1 vs 1.
