Inaccurate. Monti did not put is in the "dead money coffin". Now, he might have put us in the "did not sign any Big Johns coffin."
We were never in a dead money coffin to begin with. Much of the dead money we took on was a result of moves made by Ossenfort unforced. We had like $30 million in cap room going into 2024.

It's such a poverty mindset to credit Monti for getting us out of a situation he put us in. The financial equivalent of doubling our wins.

Agree. I don't know where this idea comes from.

2024 Dead Cap money included $4.8 for JJ Watt, $3.5 for Rodney Hudson, $8.1 for DJ Humphreys, and $5.0 for Zach Ertz. I suppose you could argue that Monti is responsible for Humphreys and Ertz, since he released them, but what else could he do? Humphreys was injured and Ertz was beat out by McBride.

Monti spread the Watt and Hudson cap money out. That's why we didn't have capacity to designate DHop as a June 1 cut -- Monti had already used that for Watt and Hudson.

We could have been even more flush with cash in 2024 letting those guys contracts run out. And, again, $21 million in dead money isn't a big number.

Were people upset about dead cap? The Bills and Broncos made the playoffs with 75 million and 89 million in dead cap last year.

C'mon, Monti, you gotta do the bare minimum here. Sheesh!
You would hope. Potentially biggest issue here is a bad market can make players feel like they can get more. A player like Collier probably turns down a small raise from AZ to test the market.

If I was an agent, that's what I would do.

Veteran DL Roy Robertson-Harris, who was released by Seattle this week, is visiting the #Cardinals today, per source.

It's a re-build.

Monti can't be held responsible for MB's historical ineptitude.

4 wins, 8 wins, and 2025 will be a pivotal year. Let the man execute his plan and then judge him.
Then why are you crediting him now? I didn’t come out of nowhere to shout out his savvy cap management bother.

His savvy leadership turned around a four-win team into a four-win team in just one offseason.
