It's not a great sign to me that the team that knows him best that is flush with cash is so eager to move on from him.
There is actual cap space and effective cap space. There is effective space vs. Number of free agents. Commanders have the 2nd most actual cap space, but not as much in effective cap and half of the team are free agents - I believe 12-14 starters and key players

We are actually the team with by far most money to flush. 2nd most in effective cap and 2nd least open spots on the roster to fill. 2 starting spots

100% agree. We could put all the pieces in place and watch it crumble with an injury to Murray. I don’t want to be relegated to a smash mouth just run the ball offense which would happen with Tune. Fields fits the style but I don’t think he’s leaving Pittsburgh. Mariotta would at least bring pedigree.
I think I will give a few comments to that, now that it all starts tomorrow. I completely agree with the point, by the way.

I would still prefer Fields, but realistically he is probably not going to a team where he is basically sure of being a backup. Jacoby Brissett is an interesting case. Ossenfort was the director of college scouting with the Patriots when they drafted Brissett in 2016. Then Brissett was with the Colts from 2017 to 2020 while Gannon was also there, and in 2022, Brissett was playing for the Browns with Drew Petzing as his quarterback coach and Israel Woolfork also on that coaching staff.

I would guess he is at a place in his career where he would not expect to be the starter. I would not hesitate for a second to make him one of the highest paid backup QBs, if that is what it takes.

Would be a solid move.
