SO I believe we have 4 games left. Mavs have 3 games left. Mavs up by 2.

I just look at the loss column. The Suns only have 1 more loss. If they tie, it goes to Phoenix.

Correction: The Suns now have two more losses.

Mavs get to 40 games won, they are at 38 wins now, we are out. Best we can do is get to 39 wins.

Getting a lot of Ghost Of Christmas Future games if we only trade KD and not Book as well.
I wouldn't trade him if I thought there was any way we could become relevant again during his prime but I just don't. Trading him expedites our fall to the bottom but it also gives us a chance to shorten our stay there. Letting him age out, using up his trade value through meaningless seasons, makes zero sense to me.

11.8%, rock bottom stat

In this league you gotta be competent from the 3 point line. Embarrassing…
4 for 34 and we were ALMOST still in the game. It was an embarrassing night for us but it was pretty embarrassing for the Knicks too. When a bad team misses 30 of their 34 shots from distance you should be blowing them out long before the final minutes.

This is why I’m so strongly in favor of trading him. We are going to suck, royally, with or without him until he’s past his prime. I see no reason to waste that when we could add some pieces to start to dig out of the massive hole we’re in.

Yeah and Devin is smart enough to realize the shape we're going to be in, even if he isn't actively asking for a trade I'm confident he'd support or at least accept the idea if approached.

The way it stands now, the Suns don't even own their own draft pick until 2032.

Falling to the bottom doesn't help much in regard to the draft.

The only way to become relevant is to get below the aprons. The only asset we have since there's no great draft picks, is money. Ishbia has that asset. We will have to go free agency. That's the way we become relevant again. Not talking going super high priced like KD, but building around Booker with sensible guys that make up a common system or style of play.

That would be much easier with Beal's HUGE contract off the books, assuming we trade KD.

I'm not sure how you see free agency as a path to relevance since we're at least 2 years away from having any cap space and we'd need to overpay to attract talent to sign here, which is never works out well.

Every owner has money and it's only an asset when it comes to an owner being willing and able to pay the luxury tax. Money isn't a real asset in the NBA when there's so many rules around player contracts and team salaries in the NBA.

I agree with this part but not the rest. Free agency won't bail us out until we no longer need to be bailed out. Unless we overpay for talent who is going to sign to play for the mediocre at best team we'll be?

As I've said all year, we need to trade the veterans and then use our newly generated cap space and Ishbia's checkbook to be the facilitating trade partner. You know, the team that takes on bad contracts in order to grab a young player or a pick or two. Then, after a few years of stockpiling picks we'll look like your typical expansion team but at least the books will be clean and we can start moving forward.

Doing anything else just prolongs our time as a non-relevant franchise. The next best option is to keep Devin, let him grow old winning 25 to 35 games a year and when he falls off the cliff we would then start the bottoming out and rebuilding process. Both suck, my way sucks less. JMO.
