Wow, what a surprise. Thank you all for toughening me up for the real world. Thank you, Daniel for finding this. I had no idea.

Cardinals' HC Search Thoughts Part V

Great point! But, if Minny loses in Philly, the Titans can put Shurmur on speed dial.

Cardinals' HC Search Thoughts Part V

This is my fear as well. Listening to MB&SK say that Bettcher was their guy all along. Harry, if you were making the call, who would be your top choices for HC?

Cardinals' HC Search Thoughts Part V

Hmmm...the Titans just parted ways with HC Mike Mularkey. Could they be eyeing Pat Shurmur? Pat's son Kyle is the QB at Vanderbilt. Imagine how privileged that would be to be that close you his son. Word is the Titans also covet Josh McDaniels. Plot thickens.

Cardinals' HC Search Thoughts Part V

Pat Shurmur said he felt a good connection with the Giants' brass when they interviewed him. Typically coaches being interviewed during the playoffs whose teams are still in the running will downplay their interest in other teams to the media. Typically coaches will say they chief focus right...

    The Big Whiff

What adds to the miracle of Diggs' TD...with 18 seconds left the Saints called timeout and they set up a defense that was designed to overload the sidelines and leave the middle wide open so as to induce Keenum to pass over the middle...and it was either Diggs or Jarius Wright who was WIDE open...

Did a Vikings win cost us?

All MB&SK have to do is wait another week. They can have a second interview with Shurmur then, regardless of whether the Vikings win or lose. They can also schedule second interviews with John DeFilippo, Jim Schwartz and Brian Flores at that time if they wish. The Lions have told all other...

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

I think that with Pat Shurmur moving on, the Vikings will move on from Keenum. Mike Zimmer wants a QB with a stronger arm. And Keenum might not be as good without Shurmur.

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

No one is going to pay him $20M. The Vikings would use the tag to trade him in hopes of getting a 3rd or 4th rounder from a team that would then sign Keenum at a salary in the $12-14M range. The Vikings would only tag him to try to get something for him. Of course if he keeps winning and the...

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

BTW---very happy for Calais Campbell. He's one game away from the Super Bowl again. And---could it be that (little used) WR Michael Floyd's team will be in the Super Bowl...again? #sonotfairtoLarry

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

Munchak---his OL did an excellent job today versus one of the elite front 7s in the NFL. Big Ben held the ball too long on the fumble. It's not Munchak's fault that on both 4th and inches the OC and/or HC inexplicably don't run a QB sneak with a Pro Bowl C and a 6-5 235 pound QB. Munch's RT gets...

    OT- NFL Divisional Round Weekend

Steelers with Pouncey at C and the 6-5, 235 pound Big Ben choose not to run a QB sneak twice on 4th and inches. What ever happened to Steeler tough?

    OT- NFL Divisional Round Weekend

Happy for Calais. Tom Coughlin should get NFL exec of the year.

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

They can f-tag him and then trade him for a 3rd round pick to team that has agreed with Keenum's agent to sign him at a mutually acceptable contract (not $20+M a year). That's why they would do it. They want something in return.

    Comparing Keenum to Warner

Harry, who is your top choice as the Cardinals new HC? Who is your second choice? I'd love to see a thread from you on this. BTW---I think the Vikings would franchise Keenum just to get something in return via a trade (which, wouldn't be 2 first rounders, that's for sure---something less---but...

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

Word on twitter today, Metcalf, is that the Vikings are considering using the f-tag on Keenum. Either to keep him or get something in return via a trade. This may be their way of blocking the Shurmur/Keenum package deal.

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

Yes, I think you are correct. Getting a HC interview is not necessarily a fair evaluation. I don't know Hub Arkush. I am surprised he would rate Bettcher right up there with a seasoned and highly regarded veteran like Vic Fangio. I can see the positives in Bettcher, he's young and growing on the...

I am not criticizing you at all, Jeff. I appreciate your trust in MB&SK and you could be right and I could be wrong. In my opinion, the team culture is the first thing that needs to change. The players showed up every other week (at best) for two years now. BA played favorites and created...

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

Pat Shurmur has been a HC before, so he knows as well as anyone that it is best to hire your own staff. Sure, Shurmur could mentor Bettcher, but that can be an awkward situation right from the get-go. Shurmur will want a DC he can place his complete trust in, particularly seeing that he will be...

    Bidwill at a Crossroad

Jeff, and everyone, this is the kind of passive aggressive approach that may cost the Cardinals a chance at signing the best candidate. This is what Ian Rapoport was alluding to. It also gives MB&SK the excuse that "we were being thorough" when the top candidates are signed elsewhere.

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

Top 10? Top 5? What defense are you talking about? Leaning on meaningless stats is a veneer. Yes, injuries to the offense hurt, but that's also in part a result of poor protection schemes and ridiculously predictable play calling which often included trying to run ad nauseum between the tackles...

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

The defense came undone in the NFC Championship game in 2015 and has not been the same since. A top experienced DC could have changed all of that. Over the past 2 years, put any pressure on this defense in meaningful games and it wilts. It's poorly designed and undisciplined.

A+ Performances from Cardinals' HC Candidates

All of them excelled on the big stage last night: John DeFilippo---the job Doug Peterson and he did in prepping Nick Foles was stellar. Jim Schwartz---has to be one of the top 4-5 defensive coordinators in the NFL. Had BA hired him 3 years ago, would the Cardinals still be in the playoffs...
