    OT: Garappolo 5y/137.5M

This contract now puts a good deal of pressure on JG and the 49ers to prove this kind of record-setting deal was warranted.

Tyrann Mathieu: "No way I'm taking a pay cut."

I would love to see what Wilks and Holcomb and Merritt can do with the Honey Badger. I just hope that HB can agree to a revised contract. Honey Badger appears to be at a crossroads with regard to his career right now. He stopped writing up his personal and team goals last season. There is no...

    Cardinals Pick Up Bethea’s Option

That's why it would be good to re-sign Tyvon Branch who was playing very well up until his injury. But i also think we need to draft a FS to groom behind Bethea.

    Retooling the Cardinals' Special Teams

Welcome to Arizona, Jeff Rodgers. It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood now that you have arrived. You worked with LS Aaron Brewer while you were with the Broncos---so you know what you have in him. Steve Keim signed LS Drew Williams (6-3, 190, South Carolina) to a future's contract---so it...

    OT: McDaniels to spurn Colts?

I think I summed it up the best I could, cheese...the Pats are a perfect storm of brilliant diligence (praiseworthy) and profitable dysfunction (loathsome).

    OT: McDaniels to spurn Colts?

Patriots drama. So sick of it. Would love to see them go 7-9 next year. Pats fans are so freeking spoiled. The Patriots under BK, BB and TB...are like the perfect storm of brilliant diligence and profitable dysfunction.

Tyrann Mathieu: "No way I'm taking a pay cut."

The Cardinals have had horrible luck when it comes to big second contracts. What, was it a mere week or two after they re-signed Carson Palmer to his lucrative extension that he blows out his knee? Just as you said, look at Gresham this year. When they gave Whiz and BA lucrative extensions both...

OT: Colts' Edwin Jackson killed by drunk driver

Does anyone remember the hamburger drill that BA and the coaches ran the first day of hitting in camp in 2015? I watched it on TV and what an instant fan I became of LB Edwin Jackson. As i recall, the coaches had RB Paul Lasike (BYU) who was a load, take a handoff and go one on one with Jackson...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

I am excited to see what Wilks and Al Holcomb can do with PP and all of the talent we have on defense. I don't think trading PP is a discussion point with Wilks and the FO. I was posing a couple of examples in which we could acquire our QB. We are stuck at #15 in the draft and the UFA QB pool is...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

In my opinion, daves, they hired exactly the right guy. There are fundamental aspects of playing defense that all 11 men on the field are required to adhere to. You can't have double standards. There is a fundamental and safe way to take on blocks and a fundamental way to tackle (break down...

Well earned. Bethea is a baller.:newcards:

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

Bashad Breeland fits the Wilks' CB mold. The prize CB in the FA class, imo, is Kyle Fuller (Bears). He will be hotly pursued. Bears want him back, might even tag him.

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

Good points, wa52lz. In retrospect, I agree with you on Curry. I knew the cap figures, but I think Curry could have a CC-type impact on our defense. His production has been down in terms of sacks, but not in terms of run stuffing and QB pressures. Douglas had a solid rookie season. He's a great...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

I think that if PP responds enthusiastically to Wilks' coaching and philosophy it will bring the entire team to a new level of confidence and standard of achievement and accountability.

Tyrann Mathieu: "No way I'm taking a pay cut."

I thought it was the 3rd day of the new season which is March 17th. That gives the Cardinals three days to try to trade TM if necessary. They won't want to pay the $5M if they are going to trade or release him.

    Retooling the Cardinals' Defense

Steve Wilks has not yet determined whether the 2018 Cardinals will be a base 43 or 34...but the most probable answer is that he and his staff will integrate components of both, depending on the opponent and what emphasis they need to place on stopping the run. Most of the time the Cardinals will...

Cardinals hire Jason Michael as tight ends coach

Excellent hire by Steve Wilks. Michael has OC and QB coach experience which should come in handy for game preps. The fact that Wilks and Mike McCoy wanted him as TEs coach indicates the new emphasis of a Patriots'/Eagles' type of offense where TEs are one of the main focal points.

    Retooling the Cardinals' Offense

Chad Williams and J.J. Nelson can stretch the defense---both need to step up---but we need another WR in that mix. I liked what I saw in D.J. Chark (LSU) at the Senior Bowl. I also was impressed with Tre'Quan Smith of Central Florida. I think we need better athleticism at TE, better than what...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Offense

I like all your WR and OL favorites. And your strategy of adding a CB via FA (and I would add we should sign a MLB in free agency too) is right on the money. D.J. Foster should be in the mix, but if additions are made at RB, it will be harder for Foster to make the roster, especially with T.J...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Offense

Because of injuries the Cardinals have had their depth at tackle tested---and that experience, imo, bodes well for next year. I think John Wetzel is a legitimate starting RT...he is a mauler in the running game and is outstanding in blocking upfield on screen plays. He's much improves as a pass...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Offense

    1. Chad Williams and J.J. Nelson should be factors at WR. I think SK will try to re-sign Jaron Brown, but MJ is reporting that Jaron is getting a good deal of interest as a #2 WR from other teams and might price himself out of the Cardinals' budget. Not sure I agree with this, though. But, McCoy...

    Retooling the Cardinals' Offense

This year's Super Bowl gave us a good glimpse as to the style of offense that Mike McCoy prefers. McCoy is an advocate of the Patriots' style of offense which is predicated on a balance running game with a passing game that attacks the seams with the TEs, the middle with the slot WRs and the...

    Wilks Coaching Staff Thread

Excellent info on Charlie Harrison, Gandhi! I think this is a fascinating hire. A teacher of fundamentals who can relate to players of a all kinds is made to order for this position.

    Arizona Fitz Foles

I would add too that Foles showed once before how special he could be during Chip Kelly's first year in Philly, making the Pro Bowl after throwing 27 TD to 2 ints. That year Foles was winning games late in 4th quarters the way he did n the Super Bowl. His success is not a fluke.

    NY Power Struggle Results

Harry, back in November, I heard from my cousin who is close friends with the Mara family and plays golf with them at the Westchester Country Club that the Maras unanimously agree that Eli is done. I think in part they used the backlash of Eli's benching to get rid of Ben McAdoo---who didn't...
