    Interesting week for we old-timers/history geeks with several former title game matchups: Chiefs-Vikings (SB IV), Packers-Raiders (SB II), Eagles-Rams (‘49 NFL Championship), Bears-Washington (several NFL title games), and Cowboys-Niners (lots of NFC Championships).

    Niners going all in on winning the SB. They certainly have the talent, but it’s a long season and injuries will have an impact. Plus, Shanahan has a track record of neglecting to run when appropriate in big games.

    Totally agree Bullhead. Other players legitimately feared his off-the-charts ferocity. Not many players achieve that type of status and, to be honest, he wouldn’t have earned that sort of standing were he not an extremely talented and instinctively brilliant athlete. Truly, one of a kind.

    I think it will be a close W or a close L, but thankfully the KK days are over. If he were still the HC, Burrow/Cincy would absolutely be getting the ship righted this week. I’m so damn glad those bad old days are in the past!

    Same here! NFL Films was so damn good at what they did under the auspices of the Sabols. Now the league sadly ignores all of that great work and instead runs their stupid “Top Ten” videos and inane talk shows ad nauseum. I don’t watch that meaningless NFL Network garbage, but these old films…can...

    Like many, I’m really pleasantly surprised by the smart, hard-working approach so far. I truly did not think MB had it in him to get good people into key positions after the SK/KK debacle. And that may be why this season feels so good even though we’re not likely to even finish with a winning...

    I remember it well. IIRC we went 6-10, but could have snuck into the postseason with an 8-8 mark. Regardless, those losses to SF had me screaming at my TV.
