I'm not big on the combo players. Plus - you can pick up the Panny DMP-30 for the Blu-ray and Toshiba for the HD and still pay less than you would for the combo. I think that is a better route if you want both because then you end up with two very solid stand-alone players. shawn- FischerKing

ah - nevermind - looks like i could go with a 605 and then when i need to expand on hdmi connections i can pick up an hdmi switcher that will allow a passthrough signal to the AVR out to the tv and speakers. and the switcher is cheaper than the price difference between then 605 and 705. shawn- FischerKing

The 805 is really nice and it is coming down between that or the 705. I don't think the 605 as much for the only reason that it has 2 in/1 out hdmi and that would not provide me with any future growth. shawn- FischerKing

Right - the hdmi cables keep getting better with each new version and you only have the one cable to deal with. the only caveat is to ensure that the components that you purchase have the hardware to support the 1.3 cables. or whatever the latest version is. just because a tv or a dvd player is...- FischerKing

maybe take a favorite movie into the store with you - one that you are familiar with and have the sales person play them on different tv's so you can get a feel for what looks the best to you. just an idea. shawn- FischerKing

probably does not make a difference in normal tv watching - but in movie watching the higher refresh rate most likely will. especially when you are able to watch a movie at 1080p/24fps @ 120hz refresh rate. the picture will be much cleaner and crisper. shawn- FischerKing
