What a crazy ass game. Odom, Gasol and Pierce all were invisible, and Sasha looked like a perennial All Star. I hate to say it, but this game kinda feels like a 'lucky win' for a few reasons. I still think the Celtics are playing a little better, and I hope the Lakers will correct that...

    Ok, that's just hilarious.

Terry Porter new Suns coach, 3 year contract.

Smart choice by the Suns. Porter is a good choice and will be a good coach for the Suns. I have no doubt at all he'll be a better coach then D'Antoni. Congrats Suns Fans!

Anyone who thinks there is no rivalry knows nothing about basketball. There is no rivalry in the NBA even near as great as Lakers vs. Celtics. That being said, Lakers will win game 2 and go home with the split. At least, that's what I hope happens. :D I have to admit, I'm nervous about it. As...

Cripes.. 250+ posts in this thread and they don't even play game 1 till tomorrow.

Who in your opinion is the best defensive player on the Cards?

And they are absolutely right. It still baffles me how most people over look Rod Hood, he was a great addition to this team. You know you can't even buy his jersey? I want one, but it's just not sold, I have to have it custom made. I can get a Marcell Shipp jersey but not Hood? Give me a break...

It's amazing how gracious Shaq can be when he has no other choice.

How are the Lakers "the team to beat"?

Stopped reading there. What is it about the term "no offense" that people think they can say anything they want as long as they say "no offense" afterward? I tried to be civil to you, you're obviously incapable of such thing, so we're done here.

That's hillarious. :biglaugh: Get off it and shut up already, none of us gloated a word when the Suns lost, we're not rubbing anyones face in anything. All the hostile talk is instigated by people like you that rip on the Lakers then rip on us if we post a reply. Gloating over the Suns loss...

    Jason Taylor Anyone?

I thought he fell off a lot last year, but I misread his stats. I watched a few Dolphins games, and he didn't really seem the same. Could have been the result of playing for such an awful team, that has to be hard to stay motivated. Still, I don't think he'll play here.

Oh, I got your point, sorry if my reply didn't exactly address what you were saying. I guess I was more just thinking out loud then replying to you. I totally agree with you though about fans sticking with team in good times as well as bad. I agree with a lot of what you said.

Odom is definitely key to the Lakers success. When he went from the 2nd to 3rd option, he exploded and has had a great year. I'm not sure why you think he might leave in the off season, the Lakers only have 2 free agents this year (Sasha Vujacic and Ronnie Turiaf) and they are both restricted...

Funny thing is, when I was a little kid, I actually hated the Lakers. I'm from California, I was born in Inglewood, and EVERYONE loved the Lakers, it was all you ever heard about. I was totally into baseball till junior high school, I really only cared about the Angels even though they always...

How are the Lakers "the team to beat"?

I have to respectfully disagree with you. Not only on the issue of Cobbler's intelligence (he's far from dumb) but on the notion that any of the other coaches listed could have done the same with the Lakers. Pop and Riley are great coaches, they might have won 1 or 2 in that time span, maybe...

I could not agree with this more. I trust Irvin's intent about as much as I believe Michael Vick is truly sorry for what he did.

    Jason Taylor Anyone?

I hate to be the one to interject reality here, but doesn't this statement pretty much eliminate the Cardinals as a contender for Taylor even if we could afford him? He's not going to come to AZ, no way no how, not yet. I still think we're one season away from being able to attract marquee...

Wow.. I figured that with Bostons regular season record, being 2-0 against LA, and having home court, that the Lakers would be under dogs. I have to agree though that LA is the favorite. They are playing better then anyone right now, the 2 games were in December, and the Lakers have played...

Allow me to elaborate then.. Kobe and Fisher both have finals experience, no one on the Celtics can say that. Also Phil Jackson is their coach, vs Doc Rivers for Boston. Phil better knows what to expect and how to prepare his team. Neither team overall is all that experienced in finals play...

Well, all the hater crap aside.. how do you guys see the matchups against Boston? Here is the way I see it.. Point Guard: Rajon Rondo vs. Derek Fisher: I think we have a good advantage here. I actually like Rondo, he's an exciting young guard, but he's offensively very inconsistent, especially...

Lakers vs Celtics -2008 NBA Finals

Exactly. They can't find any problem with his game, so they have to go to cheap shots and fiction. Personally, I think it's kind of funny. You know, in a sad.. pathetic sort of way.

It's so funny reading this forum these days. You have us Laker fans, and a bunch of bitter ass Suns fans that are so desperate to avoid acknowledging the greatness of the Lakers that they are jumping on the Boston Bandwagon out of desperation. It's great, it's so funny watching all these bitter...

What's funny is.. one thing I'm really looking forward to.. Hearing the "Beat LA" chant in Boston. For some reason, I love that. We haven't really heard it in a decade or so because either the Lakers were so good the fans didn't bother, or the Lakers were so pathetic it wasn't even worth it...

Lakers vs Celtics -2008 NBA Finals

Lakers in 5. Ok, well I have no idea how many games, but the 2,3,2 format helps the Lakers, especially considering that Celtics have struggled on the road, and the Lakers are unbeaten at home in the playoffs. :)
