Lakers @ Suns Tuesday game thread, November 26th, 2024

Solid game. I feel like this may have been their best/ most complete game of the season.

    Suns 2024-2025 Season Discussions

I think the main problem is that he makes bone-headed play on defense. He misses rotations, which likely makes coaches pull their hair out. I actually agree with you, but I understand why Bud won't play him.

Kings @ Suns Sunday game thread, November 10th 2024

I am not too mad about this one. First game without KD, Nurkic got hurt, and they shot like crap from three. It sucks to lose the game they basically had all but won, but it happens.

Ryan Dunn - the Real Deal or Beginner's Luck?

Keep in mind that he is a rookie. He is going to have off games and inconsistencies on offense.

Suns @ Clippers Thursday game thread, October 31st, 2024

I agree, but I really think he just hasn't found his rhythm yet. He had some injuries, just had a kid- he is just not ready to play yet. He'll get there.

Suns @ Clippers Thursday game thread, October 31st, 2024

I almost stopped watching at the half. Glad I did not. They just need to figure out how to not fall behind early. Second half was amazing. Dunn continued to impress. I'd caution everyone wanting to trade Allen. Dunn is a rookie, and he will hit that rookie wall at some point. Royce has been...

Ryan Dunn - the Real Deal or Beginner's Luck?

I do remember someone posting a draft night video with the Suns (Owner, CEO, Coach, GM), and they specifically said they got the two guys they wanted from the start.

Ryan Dunn - the Real Deal or Beginner's Luck?

I know it's only been four games, but I am just going to say it: Dunn is overtaking Mikal as my favorite non-star in the league. His defense is damn-near perfect, and he is not bad on offense either. Most of all, I love the fact that he has no fear- there is never any hesitation with him.

Mavericks @ Suns Saturday game thread, October 26th, 2024

Biggest difference tonight was the Suns sticking to letting their PGs run the show. Eleven turnovers, with only one coming from KD and Booker each. Nurk was still a turnover machine, but everyone else was OK. Good ball movement, better defense. Dunn was absolutely incredible. Booker continues to...

Mavericks @ Suns Saturday game thread, October 26th, 2024

I have watched a lot of Luka games, and I can honestly say I have never seen anyone play him as well as Dunn played him tonight. Once this kid learns to not commit as many fouls, he will be one of the best defenders in the league. He is scary good.

Suns @ Clippers Wednesday game thread, October 23rd, 2024: Season Opener

Good stuff: Suns are significantly deeper than they were last year. Jones and Morris are a good point guard rotation, Plumlee is not as cooked as I thought he was, and the rookies got to play for a while. They are playing faster. I didn't see them walk the ball up the court nearly as much as...

Ryan Dunn - the Real Deal or Beginner's Luck?

I am not sure if anyone brought this up already, but when we revisit this thread, it's worth remembering he is a rookie, and it is common for the rookies to have up and downs. It's also very common to hit that "rookie wall" in the second part of the season, as they are not used to the demands of...

Ryan Dunn - the Real Deal or Beginner's Luck?

His defense is outstanding. Preseason or not, that skill obviously translates. I am encouraged by his three-point shot, but I'm gonna need to see a little bit more before I celebrate. If he can shoot 35% or so, he will be the steal of this draft. Oh, and he does not lack confidence, which is...

Sounds to me like knows something we don't.

Suns Training Camp, October 1st through 4th, 2024

If replacing a has-been shooting guard with a legitimate starting point guard and a solid backup point guard is "slight" improvement, I'd love to hear what you would consider "significant" improvement would be. Jru Holiday? 28 year-old Chris Paul? They went from absolute zero to a solid PG...

Suns Training Camp, October 1st through 4th, 2024

There is no way anyone can add 40lb of muscle in a single offseason. These are professional athletes who are already built pretty well. Even a novice can only hope for 3-4 per month. If he has really added 40lb, 30lb of that is fat. My guess is that his listed weight was lower than his actual...

    2024-2025 Around the NBA Thread

My guess it that the proper etiquette is to trade or release a G-League player if they have an opportunity to get into a better situation.

    2024-2025 Around the NBA Thread

Suns made it to the finals because of Chris Paul, not Mikal Bridges. The problem was that CP3 fell off significantly the following season (no surprise, due to his age.) Mikal Bridges is my favorite role player in the entire league, but you are going nowhere if he is your second best player...

    2024-2025 Around the NBA Thread

Exactly. Suns were going nowhere without another star, and they weren't getting another star without giving up their best asset (Bridges.) I understand people saying it turned out to be a mistake, but I don't see how anybody can dispute the claims that Phoenix was not going anywhere with Booker...

    2024-2025 Around the NBA Thread

Beal was a negative asset for Washington. He is getting paid $50-ish M per year, and has a no trade clause. The two situations are not even remotely similar.

Frank gives them a different look. He is not any better than Nurkic defensively but he can hit open threes well enough.

    2024-2025 Around the NBA Thread

Some people keep saying this, but NO trade, Durant or otherwise, was happening without including Bridges. He was the only real asset Suns had. Very good defender, good shooter, doesn't miss games, doesn't have a glaring weakness. Nobody is trading a star for Cam Johnson and expiring Jea Crowder...

    Suns 2024-2025 Season Discussions

I dislike the leadership discussion because nobody can ever agree on the basic definitions. Since there are different types of leaders, it is a nuanced topic that's difficult to discuss in general, but particularly difficult in writing short messages on a message board. I'll just say that I...

How the hell is Covington still available? Did I miss something last season? That dude can play defense and shoot threes.
