I'm hesitant to believe anything about any "0" list of all time.

I liked just about every movie on the list... If I wanted to see an accurate history movie I'd watch a documentary..

Most ridiculous list I think I've seen for movies.

How could they put a scifi movie on the list. You mean *gasp* the fictional vision of the future didn't come true?

Looks like some entertainment reporter had some time to kill. That, and it appears, brain cells as well. What an idiotic article.

Why is it idiotic? I dont see whats so idiotic about pointing out historic inaccuracies. Just something to think about. Doesnt make the movies any less good or great for that matter.

Now the futuristic ones were a stretch and seemed to be done more just to show how far off people were with how the future would be.

You take this crap WAYYY to serious.

There has been no fictional film in the history of movies that has been historically accurate. None.

They call those movies that are historically accurate "documentaries".

And? That wasnt the point of the list. The point was to list the movies that were "most inaccurate" Im sure there is some sort of ambiguity in there on the writers part because its more of an opinion.

Most people know that movies are loosely based on real events in many cases. But there are a lot of people that I would bet if you asked them if they thought Braveheart was historically accurate? They would probably say "yes of course it was based on a true story." Thats just how dumb people are. You of all people Chap should know that people believe what they see on TV and movies.

The list wasnt trying to say these movies are bad or that they sucked. Just that they are VERY MUCH inaccurate. Whats the harm and makes it "idiotic"?

I would beg to differ with you on your comment above too. There are a few that according to the actual people the movies are based on have been about as accurate and real as you could portray. Blackhawk Down is one that I know of.

As long as there is a category for "docudramas" like Tombstone then its fine to show the inaccuracies of movies. Its not a big deal really since people prefer the legend of what happened rather then the reality of most events anyway.

There are an unfortunately large number of people who do believe what they see in movies as long what they see isn't blatantly pretend. If the article was read by at least one of those (poorly educated) people than the writer did better than he did worse.

I agree with whoever thinks this list is a joke...2001? Honestly? How can that movie be on the list if it was made like 40 years ago??

A couple of my own nitpicks:

- 2001 was not a prediction of what 2001 was supposed to be like. No more than 1984 was about the literal year 1984. They both projected stories into the near future to capture imaginations, suspend disbelief, and perhaps tell a story people would not otherwise want to hear/see. Only someone with a vice-like sphincter on a Taco Bell bing would think of 2001 as "historically inaccurate."

- The historical inaccuracies of Braveheart are part of the charm of the story. Not even the history books agree on its account -- there are several versions based on oral legend. Doesn't make the story any less valid: Freedom in death is better than slavery in life. You don't get that story line across by picking the brain of an Oxford history professor.

I don't recall any of those movies on the list claiming to be "true". People place real characters in fictional stories all the time. Or even stories that were "based" on actual events. It's great entertainment, as were most of the movies on that list.

I don't think events really occurred the way they were depicted in Lord of the Rings. I'd have to add that to the list of inaccurate movies.

Especially overseas (particuarly 3rd world countries). When I lived in Asia, you wouldn't believe the number of people that would ask me "is that how it is in the USA?" after seeing movies like Indecent Proposal or Basic Instinct. Sigh. It's . just. a . movie. people!
