Lol… it is pointless talking about this with you. Even knowing Kyler isn’t the answer you’re still clinging to him staying here even when it’s been shown multiple times in just the last couple years that moving on from Kyler’s kind of mediocrity doesn’t doom a franchise moving forward.

I am saying don’t get rid of K1 without a solid plan.

Also, newsflash… Kyler Murray is and never has been even close to the player Wilson was so even moving on from him and making a comparison as reason to keep Kyler has no basis in fact.

After Pete was let go this off-season, they had an impromptu dinner in Seattle with a bunch of former players in the area.

I think the potential is obvious, Daves. Murray’s highs are very high. I believe it was Bill Walsh (I am not sure about that, though) who have said to judge a player by his best play, and then it is up to the coaches to get it out of him. Now, he said it in regard to draftable players, but I think the point is the same in the Murray-case. Going by that theory, there are certainly many NFL coaches with big enough self-esteem to believe that they can get the maximum out of Murray.

There are several teams that are desperate for quarterbacks, and another way to look at Murray’s value is to ask what Plan B is for those teams? By all accounts, the quarterback class in the draft is not impressive, and there will most likely only be one or two quarterbacks on the free agent-market worthy of a bigger contract. There will surely be teams that miss out on those few options, which could easily lead them to Murray.


The Cardinals are most often among the bad teams in the NFL. I am sure there are many other teams that will believe they can do better than the Cardinals.

I think a team like the jets could possibly be interested in K1. A price of 33 mil for a one year trial is not a terrible idea for them. They could release him after next year and owe him nothing more dollar wise. Keeps the jets fan base alive and active believing they've struck gold.

You've been on the Bo Nix was viewed as trash narrative for a hot minute now. I don't remember this. The Broncos picked him 12. Was he really seen as trash? Or just with some age red flags? Honest question, cause my brain says he was fairly decently touted.

He certainly wasn’t highly regarded. Not as highly regarded as the top 4 QBs. I don’t think anyone thought he was “trash” though. Maybe surprised he went in 1st but was definitely not dropping lower than 2nd imo.

I'd rather forego another lost season and enter the great unknown of FA/trades/draft and try to upgrade. We should, at all times, be trying to make this roster better. Keeping Kyler just tells the team and the fanbase they aren't serious about winning for yet another season.

That is fair dude- I definitely feel you. 14 wins in 2.75 seasons is a hard pill to swallow when talking About another lost year.

Especially with a weakening NFC west division

Crapping the bed the next 4 is unacceptable. Not winning the next four games is expected.

Meaning K1 can’t perform like he has in the 3 previous games.

I fully expect the Cards to win Sunday and in NC. The Rams and Whiners will be interesting if that happens.

No no, I mean it. I think he ended well in Chicago, and I didn’t understand why they benched him in Pittsburgh immediately when Wilson was ready. As I mentioned, I think he is the best bet on having a revival like Mayfield or Darnold.

Good call, WC, and I think it goes for several teams. The Raiders, the Titans, the Giants. And by all accounts, next year’s rookie class is probably better, so don’t you think that most of their fans would be excited about trying to go for the jackpot with Murray, and if it doesn’t work, well, then they can go for one of the hotshots in next year’s draft? I think that you could definitely sell that to fanbases that have gone through nightmares with their current quarterback.

Well, it would basically be a one-year contract, so the salary cap would matter in that instance. Of the perceived options, only the Jets would have a little trouble fitting it in. Las Vegas have even more available space than the Cards, and neither the Titans nor Giants are far behind.

And I think that they could all, realistically, consider spending a lot of money and draft capital on him. I think that the rookie class are questionable, and I am sure that there is a lot of coaches that believe that they can get more stability out of Murray. After all, he does still show moments of world class play.

So in this scenario the Cardinals, who know Murray better than any other team, would be smart enough to ditch the known quantity for a mid first round rookie or free agent QB... but one of these teams, with higher draft picks than the Cardinals, would be stupid enough to forego taking a high first round rookie, and excited to "go for the jackpot" with Murray? AND to give up draft assets to do so?!?
