Let's face it, Larry Fitzgerald's recent stats aren't eye popping when you see them on a computer screen, and with all of the current contract talk, the Arizona Cardinal fans are starting to second guess whether or not this team should pony up the 23.6 million Fitzgerald is due, should he stay. He has been the face of this franchise through the thick and thin, and after eleven seasons I seriously doubt Arizona calls it quits with Fitz. Even at age 31, I believe him to still be the current and undisputed MVP on the Arizona Cardinals.
Larry Fitzgerald was on pace for another 1,000 yard season, it would have been his first since 2011. He missed two games due to injury, wasn't 100% for part of the season, and once again had three best friends when it comes to quarterbacks. What he did do was command attention, which allowed our other receivers to be successful. In days past, it was just pass it to Fitz. Now Arians has a offense that doesn't pass to him all the time, but he still uses Fitzgerald on almost every play. Since Arians has arrived he has been in motion much more, assigned to blocks coming from the edge, and he has taken on the new duties like a true professional.
Some will read this, and wonder how I could write this Fitzgerald MVP garbage when the man only has two touch downs this year, but again, Fitz is being used in a different manner this year. If he were on another team and if the conditions were right, the numbers would be there. He hasn't lost a step in my opinion, and there are great receivers in the NFL that aren't lightning fast, running routes is a work of art. Larry Fitzgerald wrote the book when it comes to catching the ball at it's highest point, some times when people find out I'm a Cardinals fan, it's like they offer condolences, and then mention what a great guy and receiver Larry Fitzgerald is.
I think Fitzgerald has a lot left on the clock, other HOF receivers have put up great numbers in their thirties, Rice was crazy old. He continues to set NFL records, and will be Palmer's biggest reason for success. My MVP was a toss up between Fitzgerald and Jared Veldheer, but when I look at the history and the on and off field benefits of having a super star, one that doesn't turn around and grab his junk but actually gets the attention because he is someone you can show your kids... my coin came up Larry.

Now keep in mind he has done this with Josh McCown, Shaun King, John Navarre. Kurt Warner (praise Jesus), Matt Leinart, Derek Anderson, John Skelton, Max Hall, Kevin Kolb, Brian Hoyer, Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and finally (yet once again) Ryan Lindley.
Larry Fitzgerald has basically been married 13 times in eleven years.
He is the Arizona Cardinals, both on and off the field. He was here in 2008, back when Dansby was here, back when we loved Q, he's been to the big dance and that's why the younger players look up to him and believe. Role models are hard to find in this day of age, and Fitz is true class. He works with multiple charities, the First Down Fund is the one I like, and during the off season he does the Walter Mitty... are you kidding me?
Well that's it, my MVP vote hasn't changed in years, much thanks for reading.
