I just read a little clarification on why that penalty happened. Apparently, Sean Weatherspoon dislocated his finger & was trying to run off the field even though it was clear that the Vikings were going to spike the ball to stop the clock. He should've waited for the spike & then come out. Still, whoever ran onto the field (probably Minter) should've waited until Spoon was off before running out there knowing that Minnesota was in hurry up mode to spike the ball. There's no penalty for 10 guys on the field.

Yeah it was an unfortunate play. Since they were going to spike - though no guarantee - the D can't substitute if the Vikings are going no huddle; which is basically what a spike is.

That's not on minter because if they run a fake spike and we don't have enough people on the field because spoon couldn't wait because of a dislocated finger for one play then lay down for an injury timeout. Don't try and run off in the last second and hope you get off and someone gets on in time

I figured there was an injury on that play. He should have fell to the ground or something. It would have cost us a timeout, but they were going to stop the clock anyway.

This is on the Spoon, not Minter. If Bridgewater had any awareness to see that there were only 10 players on the field, and the one missing is a LB, there's probably some route up the middle that can be exploited. A good QB sees that and attacks it.

Hell if it were Brady, he'd have seen Weatherspoon get off the field and would have glanced at Gronk and thrown him a touchdown.
