Josh McCown is about to be interviewed by Peter Brown as of 2:23pm ET (12:23pm AZT)

You can stream it from the Sporting News.com site or listen to it the old fashioned way if a local station carries it.

Well, that was a great big nothing -

Except that they had both Nate Poole and McCown on at the same time to talk about "The Catch."

And one thing that I believe was only touched on briefly on another thread is that they credit Emmitt Smith for some of the success of that play.

On the play before, Emmitt dug the ball out of the pile and handed it to the ref, thereby saving enough time to get the play off with :04 and counting.

That was about it. They did ask Nate how (based on Mac's comment that - after each of the four times Nate was cut - he said, in effect: "If you ask me back, I'll be there. I only want to play for you.") he felt about playing for Dennis Green.

The response, as expected, was that Poole was pumped about playing for an offensive-minded coach like Denny.

That is unfortunate, considering that Nate is never going to play a regular-season down for Dennis Green's Arizona Cardinals. But he WILL be a minor celebrity for a good part of training camp.

Are you Dennis Green? No? Then you obviously have no idea. Plus unless we get two more adequate receivers between now and training camp, he probably will be on the roster because he has proved himself far more than McAddley, Gilmore, or Kasper. I'm not saying Poole is a spectacular or even good WR, but do you really think the Cards are going to make a free agent or draft splash by getting 2 WRs?

Plus we all know how this team has worked in the past. They'll probably see keeping Poole on the team as some way to get Packers fans in Phx. to go to games.

:biglaugh: Love it!

Seriously, I just figure that coaches bring in their own "pet projects", which is kind of what Poole was for Mac and Sully, as well as Gilmore. I don't particulaly think that Poole is that good, and that McAddley is probably the better player, with all the tools plus speed. Not good speed, just better speed. I have no idea, though.

Frankly, I'd like to just get rid of all Mac's crappy/classy players and get a bunch of thug ex-Ravens in here that are talented, rather than just nice people. I just don't see Poole making it on a team that wants to get to the playoffs. We already have too many wideouts.

I posted this on another thread and it got lost in the shuffle...

does anyone know if mac did the following during his tenure as head coach?

1. cut a player that had no injuries and was under contract.

Greissen is the only one I can think of. Not sure if mac or tobin cut wadsworth - but I classify that as injuries vs. non-performance.

Did we cut anyone else who was under contract. Guys who are in the last year of their deal or who had "make good" contracts (like all of the training camp folks) do not count....

I think he liked every player too much to cut anyone..at least the guys under contract. It was easier to cut guys who never had a shot in the 1st place (training camp bodies).

But..I must be missing some guys..we had to cut others under contract ...just because of poor performance...

Most of the players who left the cardinals like kwamie, plummer, boston were at the end of their contracts and were free agents.

Of course..perhaps this was not all the coaches fault (that we never cut anyone under contract)...

Trivia Question -

What was the name of the Minnesota Miracle Game-Ending Play (McCown to Poole)?
