BLIZZARD & SMITH EARN

ALL-NFL EUROPE HONORS

The NFL Europe League today announced its annual awards and Arizona Cardinals tight end BOBBY BLIZZARD and defensive end ANTONIO SMITH were selected to the 2005 all-NFL Europe team. Both spent the season with the Hamburg Sea Devils

The Cardinals were one of just four NFL teams to place two players on this year’s all-league squad. Denver, Seattle and Tampa Bay were the others.

Blizzard started all 10 games for Hamburg and finished with 34 receptions for 335 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Smith started nine of the 10 games in which he appeared for the Sea Devils and recorded 6.0 sacks along with 37 tackles and a forced fumble.

The 2005 NFL Europe season will conclude this Saturday when the Amsterdam Admirals take on the Berlin Thunder in World Bowl XIII at the LTU Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. Cardinals safety ADRIAN MAYES will be in action for Berlin.

The World Bowl will be televised nationally on FOX with Curt Menefee and Brian Baldinger calling the action. It can be seen live in Phoenix on Fox 10 beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

More like "Come home and make the Cardinals roster." For every Kurt Warner and Jake Delhomme that comes from NFL Europe, there are 10 Andy McCulloughs and Deke Coopers.

The battle at the TE position is going to be interesting to follow at training camp. We have five nice prospects at the position (well four + Bronson), but no sure thing.
I would imagine Edwards being relatively sure of a roster spot. That leaves two spots for Blizzard (who played very well in NFLE), Bergen (who had a 3rd round grade grade), Golliday (the kid Rowen brought from KC) and Bronson (an UDFA that I know nothing about).

Smith was the one draft pick that I questioned last year. Maybe he is better than I thought!

Bobby Blizzard should start based on his name alone.

If this football thing doesn't work out he could have a great career as a wrestler or superhero.

yup, he could turn into something. I know Green loved him as a pick and that the scouts were real high on him pre draft '04 (due to an injury in his senior year, he fell of the charts on draft day). My guess is that he becomes Zellner's biggest worry.

Warner bounced around a lot. He also played in NFLE, with Jake Delhomme backing him up. I saw an interview with Delhomme where he had to explain to his dad why he wasn't starting... he had to explain that the reason he wasn't starting was because this guy, Kurt Warner, playing in front of him was really really good.
