A pair of former Denver Broncos defenders have landed on their feet.

Veteran cornerback Ronald Darby (who played for the Broncos from 2021-2022) has joined the Houston Texans on a one-year deal, and pass rusher Jacob Martin (who played in Denver in 2022) has landed with the Washington Commanders, also on a one-year deal.

Darby, 31, signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Broncos in 2021. He was healthy for 16 games in Denver, totaling 67 tackles, nine pass breakups and one forced fumble. His 2022 season was cut short by a torn ACL and he was released by the Broncos during the 2023 offseason. Darby then spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars before landing in Houston.

Martin, 29, was acquired by Denver in a trade with the New York Jets in 2022. After shipping out Bradley Chubb that fall, the Broncos sent a fourth-round draft pick to the Jets in exchange for Martin and a fifth-round pick. Martin was healthy for five games in the second half of the season, totaling six tackles and one sack as a rotational pass rusher.

Martin was cut by Denver during the 2023 offseason and he went on to spend time with the Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears before landing with the Commanders.
