The Jacksonville Jaguars are searching for "intangibly rich" players to add to their roster in the 2025 NFL draft, and two prospects who could fit that mold are Georgia linebacker and pass rusher Jalon Walker and Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
ESPN NFL analyst Peter Schrager spent the weekend on the phones and mentioned Walker and Egbuka as two prospects who "won the interview process and are universally beloved as people."
That sounds intangibly rich to me.
This intangibly rich phrase is one that we've heard Gladstone mention often since he took over as the Jaguars' GM. Two important elements that make up an intangibly rich individual are mental and physical toughness, which impact not only play style but also how a player goes about their day-to-day business throughout the week.
By bringing in the right type of players who possess those qualities and fit within the Jaguars' culture, their presence and being nothing more than themselves will help "level up the ecosystem."
As Gladstone described, they will be using draft-day call sheets, much like a play-caller does on the sidelines during a game. The largest and brightest category on the call sheet will be the intangibly rich category because when it comes to determining who to select, that is where the conversation is going to start.
"It's a big part of it; it's something both Liam and I both value innately," Gladstone said of those toughness attributes. "We prioritized addressing offensive line through pro free agency. I think we'll continue to do that throughout the draft. I don't think we're limited at the fronts.
"That stuff should show up at all levels of our offensive and defensive operation, and clearly on special teams. That's always going to remain at the forefront. Those two elements in tandem is really a real combination we covet."
Walker is a name we've seen mocked to the Jaguars at fifth overall here and there. He would bring an immense amount of versatility to the defense, able to play off-ball linebacker on early downs and then transition to a pass rusher during obvious passing situations.
Egbuka, meanwhile, comes to the NFL very polished, and while most of his snaps came from the slot, he has the size and ball skills to play on the boundary as well. Egbuka could go later in Round 1 or early on in Day 2.
