there seem to be 2 opposite schools of thought on the cardinals..and it is interesting who is taking each positions.

1. Pro Emmitt signing crowd..who for the most part think the cardinals are moving forward by signing emmitt, jackson, blake, etc. etc. Not a playoff team now..but things are changing at the front office and the cardinals have at least gotten up off the bottom of the NFL scrap heap and are trying to win. In this group: majority of posters on this board and the local media in phoenix. Even usual bashers like bickley and gambo seem to think things are slowly changing and like the recent signings. Most of the sports radio and newspaper writers (except for scott burdow of the tribune) thinks things are improving..even some former big time naysayers..

2. Opposite view: emmitt sucks, same old cardinals, ownership does not want to win, etc.etc... In this camp appear to be national sportswriters and many local callers to sports talk radio. Personally, I think the national sportswriters are somewhat misinformed - most of them have rarely seen the cards play, make comments like our oline is awful and they think jake plummer is the greatest qb of all time..

Interesting...seems the most informed people think things are improving..

On another note..I think if you asked people who the best player was on the cardinals..the answer was david boston. This troubled the coaches and ownership staff greatly...he was regarded as our marquee player - and he possibly had the worst attitude on the team.. I think part of what you are seeing is an extreme effort to fix problems like this..not that I would have handled it this way..but it appears to me that we are trying to get some leaders first.. Again..this is speculation on my part..it is worth what you are paying for it:wave:

That is far from true!

I am in the anti-Emmitt crowd we all know this yet even with his signing I still think we are showing great things and progressing as a team.

I also happen to think Plummer stinks. So you lumping me into category #2 just because I am anti-Emmitt really makes no sense. There should be a third category of people who are against Emmitt but still overall like where this team is headed and are ecstatic with the proactive attitude the Cardinals have showed recently!

Very good post, it looks like the mis-informed and uneducated fans think the moves are very bad

while the more informed people, think this is a welcome change for the Cards

We do need a 3rd crowd a Crowd that hates the Emmitt signing, and the non franchising of Boston.

shane...obviously everyone does not fit into the 2 categories..just a general observation.. I think my media description is more accurate..fans are all over the board on this topic - but generally it seems most of the callers I hear on the radio here in phoenix rag on the cards for signing emmitt..while the usual bashers such as gambo and bickley think it is a positive.. Most of the radio callers are uninformed..they usually throw out the words..bidwills are cheap and will never win b/c they do not spend any money..this is old news IMO - we are pretty much outspending everyone now for guys we want (even for guys like colvin we do not get) .

on the boston topic - this was obviously an error. Prior to last season - there was very little activity among transition and tagged players... trend started to change last season and snowballed this season. It was always a rumor that the owners did not play the game because everyone knew the end result - it would drive up prices on certain players...but now teams use it as a strategy - more so this season than any other. This was obviously not the only reason the cards did not tag boston - but it could have been a contributing factor (ie we miscalculated the interest teams would have in a restricted player).
