Wait, tf you think I'm defending Kyler?

This team hasn't had a "big game" in forever. The home Seahawk game was the first one in forever, and K1 shat the bed in it. Ended the season right there, for all intents and purposes.
The two Seattle games and the Minny games were big games. Those are the "seize control of your destiny" games.

In retrospect I think the Vikings game was a superb effort by the defense and everyone on offense expect for MHJ. If Marv had hauled in more than 5 of his 12 targets that was a hard fought win.

We scored 30 points missing our two starting tackles & our top 3 rb's after Conner went down. The defense are the ones that gave up over 30 points to a team that was averaging less than 20 per game. Yes Kyler played like ass at times but we were still in position to win. It seems to me like the Panthers could run at will on our D. We were also missing our best CB.

Agreed but the offense had their chance to win in OT and also gagged it away.

The defense needs more talent the offense needs more balls and heart

It was obviously a team loss. And, yes, a first quarter like yesterday means the coaches were part of the problem.

The defense has to be the focus of the offseason as the priority for our resources. The most immediate way to add wins is get our defense to the top 10 in yards and/or turnovers.

There were those who thought it was Sean Payton or Bust for Kyler Murray to live up to his potential.

I guess we're seeing the bust.

Sad.

He's not exactly a bust. He's had a bunch of really good games this year. Even against MIN he played really well for 58 minutes or whatever.

He can even lead a "clutch" game winning drive in a garden variety October regular season game.

But when the stakes get really high, and you turn up the pressure to the maximum, he seems to lose his composure, which everyone knows is deadly in terms of performance.

He's doomed to go into the dustbin of history as an also-ran if he can't get over it.

Did anyone else like going for it on 4th and 2 in OT? I liked the call, knowing Carolina would be able to at least get in field goal range; which they proved when they did have to punt shortly after.
Sadly, it was the right call. Knowing how feeble we are, there was no way we could stop them from scoring. Too bad Petzing showed zero ingenuity getting us into lousy fg range.

The second seattle game was a true "must win."

And we performed the worst in it out of those 3 games you listed.

I consider "big games" to be playoff games or absolute true must win games.

And so far the record states Kyler doesn't perform well in them.

The real question is, could I stomach Mac Jones or Daniel Jones on a one year deal? After Darnold and Russ, they are probably the next best options.

Maybe Mac Jones. I worry Daniel Jones may need more time to be put back together.

I agree that you can't call him a bust. Guys like the Rosen Ones are busts. He's just a failed #1 overall pick.

Not going to "like" that post, but I understand the status you're giving him is for many an undeniable reality.

He'll be here next year though Stout. There's no way MO eats so much dead cap space just to bring in a guy like Daniel Jones. Kyler Murray is our QB1 for 2025.

Are you ready for a long, cold, bitter offseason?

Because he is worse at passing than Kyler. I am not interested in a different type of bad. I want good.
Exactly. Even in that game Philly mentioned Fields was not very good. It was actually a lot like yesterday's game except Fields didn't pass as well as Young did. Herbert ran all over us and Fields ran for almost 100 yards.

Fields, Jones and Jones = no. At least get someone who can be better than Kyler. Darnold? Ok. But I cannot stomach downgrading and getting worse again.

If we can't get a better passer than Kyler then go all in on trying to build an elite defense. JMO.

I'd rather have Daniel Jones than Mac Jones. I'm not 100% sure Danny Dimes is better than Clayton Tune, but I think he brings less angst than Kyler.

OMG are we down to Mac Jones, Danny Dimes, Justin Fields, Sam Darnold??? My emojis aren't working or I'd add the puke one.

Darnold won't have O'Connell, JJ or Addison here, Mac Jones and Danny Dimes are dumpster fires and Justin Fields seems to get injured a lot, plus he's not real accurate. Of them all Fields would probably fit best in Petzing's 1960's offense though.

I'm afraid we are going to see KM next year anyway, so it's really a moot point.

Someone is going to take a chance with Daniel Jones as their starter next year. He could be the next Geno Smith or Sam Darnold. Darnold will also be starting somewhere. I'm pretty sure that Mac Jones will be a career back up.

I could go for Darnold. I loved him coming out of college, then was proven horrifically wrong, but then, wait, maybe not! :)
Same. He was the guy I wanted from that draft. Still skeptical but maybe he’s one of those later career surprises.
