Gambo stated on Fox Sports that the Suns will use their remaining 7.5 million or so cap money and sign restricted free agents Quintin Richardson or Hedu Turkoglu to offer sheets. Both players can play the 2 or 3 with Richardson being the defensive standout and Turkoglu being the shooter. Gambo also said the Suns are talking to the Lakers about a sign and trade for Bryant but the Lakers will let him walk before doing a trade. He also said Phoenix doesn't like any of the centers in free agency and won't pursue any of them. They want to avoid the Longley fiasco of a few years ago. The only one they like is Ostertag at a reasonable price. According to Gambo it looks like another year of no talent at the 5 for Phoenix.

If we get Richardson (good chance the Clippers are cheap and holding out on Bryant) we can package JJ for a center.

I take Q-Rich over Turkoglu anyday. Hedo can't play the 2 and is very weak.

Richardson would be awesome in the open court with Matrix and Nash. He is a beast on the boards for a SG and is relentless.

That's different from what BC was saying. He said they needed defense with the next signing. I don't mind Q because he's a poor man's Kobe. But JJ is too! And JJ is cheaper! Hedu Turkoglu is an expensive Zarko! These seem like redundant moves, don't they? Either that or Gambo is on crack! :moon:

Depends on which center you can get for a package with JJ, Chicagos pick, Vujanic and possibly Eisley, Jacobsen, Voshkul or Vroman as fillers.

Dalembert or Chandler would be perfect fits but wouldn't be easy to obtain to say the least.

I like how Q-Rich would fit in our team though.

I don't want Turkalu, but Q had over 20 games last year where he scored in double figures and had at least 8 boards! Gor a 6'5 guy! Wow! I underestimated his talents.

The Hawks have contacted restricted free agent Hedo Turkoglu and may be prepared to make him a significant offer in the next few days. Turkoglu received a qualifying offer from the Spurs this week that allows them to match any offer he receives.

This seems Hedo would be really a remote possibility based on this.

Something tells me they think they're trading Marion. (Marion and Voskuhl for Ilgauskas?) Acquiring either Richardson or Turkoglu for $6+ million per year doesn't make any sense if the Suns are planning to keep both Johnson and Marion, and Johnson wouldn't bring much in a trade.

I think Q-Rich is 6'5 without shoes.

According to the 2000 draft measurements he is 6'6 1/4 in shoes with a 7' 1/2 wingspan.

Joe Johnson 6'7", 235 pounds. Q makes us smaller! Also, I can't find the numbers but JJ had a LONG streak of over 20 points a game in a row. Q is arguably a better dunker, but the difference in money between the two is not worth the minimal difference in talent, IMHO. :D

How could the team has Marion, JJ, and Q on the same roster?

JJ is FA next year and will get a lot of money as well.

With Marion or JJ as trade bait we could possibly get a very good center via trade.
If not Richardson will make a great 6th man so long and we might see some old-school run and gun basketball.

I think the motto of this team is clear. Run, run and run. That's easier said than done. All teams want to do that if they accomplish that they play very well all of sudden like Memphis last year when Hubie got them running.

ilgauskas wouldnt be a good fit for this team. he doesnt run the floor well. heck silas (i love him as a coach) couldnt get him to run with the cavs. what chance does he have with the suns?

as far as trade vault of marion and jj i think your wrong most other teams like them a lot.

JJ plays 40.6 minutes a game. Richardson plays 36.0 minutes per game! Chandler Mike will not like signing a guy that can't play the same minutes! :D

He freaks out that Nash isn't playing 40 minutes per game! :)

I agree that Richardson is not a big upgrade over Johnson. I'm not sure he is an upgrade at all.

I doubt there's any truth to this rumor, but if there is, it's because the Suns would potentially trade Marion for a center, move Johnson to SF, and sign Richardson as a more affordable alternative to Marion.

I was talking contract value. If the Suns use up their cap space, they won't get any center at all by trading Johnson, because his salary is too small.

I agree that Ilgauskas would be a bad fit. I wasn't suggesting him as an idea that I liked; I was just trying to speculate what the plan might be. But you're right, probably the Suns wouldn't want him.

If we get Q, then I think Marion is traded for a center. JJ won't go as trade bait because he is a free agent soon. Nash, Q, JJ, Amare, center acquired for Marion. Good starting team, assuming the center is good. We can not trade Marion for a stiff!

I think this whole thing is a farce by Gambo. I posted above how Hedo is going to be matched by SA. SA already gave him a qualified offer! :) It doesn't seem Gambo is doing his homework!

All the qualifying offer does is preserve the team's right to match if they want to. It doesn't give any indication that they will match. If the team doesn't tender the qualifying offer, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent.

I doubt the Spurs would match Turkoglu for a contract far above the MLE, because he really isn't very good. I hope the Suns aren't the team to put that theory to the test.

That's true, but the Hawks have more cap space than us right now and they are supposedly high on Hedo! That was the rest of the post. They want to steal him from SA.

I would trade Marion for something like Chandler and Pippen or Robinson and Dalembert.

Chandler
Amare
Johnson
Richardson
Nash

I like that although I would prefer some sort of JJ, Eisley and pick combination for Chandler.

There you go again. Including one piece of accurate information in your post does not automatically validate the whole thing.

Sheesh.

here's the quote I got off CBS Sportsline or ESPN, I don't remember which:

There you go again. Including one piece of accurate information in your post does not automatically validate the whole thing. WTF?

there's the link. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me. :D

Besides, I said I agreed with what you said, and it seemed you didn't see the earlier post in the thread, so I told you about it. So I don't understand what you are pissed at? I didn't question you, or say anything negative to you.
