Boris Diaw, Josh Childress, Josh Smith, Donta Smith, and now Hawks are going after Hedo?

Our new assistant coach Alvin Genty happened to be Q-Rich's first head coach over his first 2 and a half season.

Food for thought...

Richardson set career highs this season in points 44(against Denver), rebounds 16 (against Atlanta), assists (9 against Phoenix) and 3-pters made (8 against Boston).

If the Suns sign Richardson and do trade Marion to get a center could they make a deal with the Blazers? Marion makes 10 million and center Theo Ratliff makes 10 million. Ratliff is one of the best if not the best shot blockers in the game and has always been a very good defensive player. He also has an expiring contract. Because Ratliff is 31 the Blazers would need to include a future number one or include the Russians they drafted last week (Monya and Khryapa) to balance this deal. The Suns could keep the Russians overseas and use them as trade bait in the future.

I think Richardson is vastly overrated. He shoots the ball about as well as JJ back when most of us would have traded JJ for a steaming bag of crap. For every time he scores 44 points shooting the ball well he has several sub 30% shooting nights. JJ is so much better than him it's not even funny.

I don't really want either of those guys. I don't think either of them would be happy as a sixth man either.

He has some advantages over JJ.

He is a much better rebounder. He is a much better athlete and better finisher in the open court which should be very important with Steve Nash pushing the ball.

That will also help his FG% ultimately. He shoots a better 3 than JJ and defensively they are about the same.

JJ is a much better ball handler and playmaker.

I don't want him if he's going to do that thing with his fists to his forehead. That's just stupid.

OK, Richardson might be a better rebounder, but he isn't a "much better" rebounder than Johnson. JJ does just fine and finishing in the open court. I hardly think that's a reason to dump him for Richardson. I also think JJ is a better defender, but that's subjective.

no kidding. I don't think I could take that.

I really don't believe we will see Shawn Marion or JJ traded this summer unless it is part of a major upgrade.

Mmmm lets see

Q-Rich 6.4rpg in 36mpg 2.2 offrpg
JJ 4.7rpg in 40.6mpg 1.0 offrpg

I would say Q-Rich is a significantly better rebounder...

Something tells me they think they're trading Marion. (Marion and Voskuhl for Ilgauskas?) Acquiring either Richardson or Turkoglu for $6+ million per year doesn't make any sense if the Suns are planning to keep both Johnson and Marion, and Johnson wouldn't bring much in a trade.

This whole cycle makes little or no sense to me. Richardson or Turkoglu are not a good fit and getting Ilgauskas is strictly a salary dump since he has only one year on his contract. Z has a long history of foot injuries, so he only makes sense going to a team that is very close to being a contender. That is not the Suns.

Lets trade some sort of Shawn Marion, Chicago pick package to Portland for a resigned Darius Miles and Theo Ratliff and re-unite him with Q-Rich in Phoenix.
Something like Marion, Eisley, Zarko, Lampe and Chicago pick.

Ratliff/Voshkul
Amare/Dice
Johnson/Miles
Richardson/Jacobsen
Nash/Barbosa

:biglaugh:

Get ready for an overdose of that fists to the head thing.

If the Nuggets can get Kenyon Martin they might be open to a JJ and pick for Nene swap I would think.

Q is the best post- up SG in the league, IMO. Not sure if I want him in the Suns uniform, but if they do sign him, they better give him the ball in the low post every time down the court...

now this is a move that i think would make sense for the suns. there is only one problem we dont have a pick that is right for him. nene for the chicago pick is about right. nene for jj is about right. because big men are harder to find the little guys maybe a late first round pick would work but the chicago pick is going to be lottery.

Richardson is really just a short small forward - 6'5" 235. He shoots mostly in close but only has a 39.8% shooting percentage. His 35.2% for three is hardly anything to write home about.

I really don't like his game and think he would be a terrible fit on the Suns.

Stoudemire and Nene on the same team? That would be cool.

I would love to get Nene, especially if he got into shape. But this deal violates the first rule of trading - NEVER TRADE WITHIN YOUR OWN CONFERENCE. Ultimately, this deal does not look that great for the Nuggets. I'm sure they could get more immediate help.

They are not in our division. And "never trade within your own conference" that applies only to superstars if at all.

Close enough. None the less, the other question about getting immediate value seems to me more to the point. I like JJ more than Q, but they don't have to give up a key player to get Q. The draft pick is nice, but it doesn't do them any good NOW.
