The MLB Network just had their top-9 all-time World Series and the Diamondbacks 2001 title was voted third best. Here are the top 3:

1)1975 Reds vs Red Sox
2)1991 Twins vs Braves
3)2001 Diamondbacks vs Yankees

You're right about him. Without BK, it would have been a 5-game series w/o any drama.

Because of him, we were gifted with inarguably the greatest ending to a world series

The Diamondbacks could of won the World Series in five games if not for the boneheaded moves by Brenly. Luckily for Brenly he had two dominating pitchers in RJ and Curt.

Well those other two were before my time but the 2001 series was amazing. Everything surrounding the series only made it more memorable, I doubt we see one better for a long long time.

I did not like Brenly's 135 different batting orders in a season any more than I like it now from his former Bench Coach.

But, I must say, Bob Brenly starting Randy Johnson in Games 2 and 6 and using him as a reliever in Game 7 (so he wouldn't have to pitch on the road in Yankee Stadium) was a brilliant move, despite keeping Kim (and his pre-adolescent body language) as Closer.

Of course having Curt Schilling the horse to start Games 1-4-7 made it possible for RJ to excel and for us to win the World Series.

Along with Gonzo's key hit, of course.

I think this is fair.

I MIGHT put Arizona- New York just slightly ahead of Minnesota- Atlanta, but either way seems fair.

I remember watching that '91 series I was just about to turn 15. Game 7 was just one of the best ever, Jack Morris dug down deep in that one. I think I enjoyed the 87 series a bit more, that Twins team was exciting to watch.

MORONS!!

2001 was much better than those other two.

I'd disagree, at least w/ the Twins-Braves. To me that was the best ever. Didn't both game 6 and 7 go extra innings and were won on homers?

Dbacks and Yanks really should not have gone 7 games.

Game 7 of the 1991 series was won on a flyball single, not a homer. Game six was won on a walk-off by Kirby. As for the Diamondbacks, of course the series could of ended in less games but you can say that in many series. If Kirby doesn't make that great catch in game six, the Braves probably win the series in that game.

It's nice to see this forum starting to pick up. Opening day is six weeks away. :)

I think it was 138, but I could be wrong. On the serious side I had actually thought it was 162.

Oh no, here goes the thread :mulli:..........without Gracies lead-off hit and WOMACKS KEY HIT, Gonzo would be just another mediocre one year steroid wonder.

Sorry couldn't resist. :bang:

Gonzo had a tough postseason, I think. If Torre doesn't bring infield in, he chokes.

Man, I was mad at jay bell for his craptastic bunt

Rivera and Jeeter helped out, too. Rivera for the bad throw, and Jeeter for refusing to take his foot off the bag: He takes his foot off the bag and makes the catch, there was a plausible chance he tags out Delucci.

The stars just lined up right in the bottom of the 9th and there ya are....

p.s. Miller's bunt was far worse than Bell's.......
