I dug up my old 2002 Draft Preview Guide and checked out the kids the Cards drafted. I found some interesting tidbits regarding Josh McCown which could be viewed as either extremely positive or extremely negative depending on your point of view.

Here are the positives:

1. Excellent size-Official combine height was 6'3" 7/8 and 225 pounds.

2. Excellent measurables-4.57 40 time, 38 inch vertical jump

3. Tremendous senior #'s-Threw for bigtime numbers (yardage, touchdowns his senior year)

Here are the potential negatives:

1. Was not successful at the Division I level (SMU). Many attribute this to the system not being a good fit, so this may not be an issue.

2. Is described as a quarterback who will "do almost anything at anytime"-Translated as somone who takes alot of gambles, throws off the wrong foot, scrambles around and doesn't give up on plays, throws into traffic way too much. No I am not reading the 1997 Draft Preview of Jake Plummer.

3. Doesn't have a true "live arm". Has a somewhat slow delivery, requires a windup to put alot of heat on the ball. Can throw a nice deep ball, but struggles on deep outs that require zip on the ball.
