Right now I think it's entirely possible we pick as high as #3. Texans and Niners being 1 and 2. One of those teams will certainly take Bush, but I don't think either would take Lienhart, so if a deal doesn't get done with another team, it's possible that we do have a shot at Lienhart.

JMHO.

Things that make you go hmmm..

David Carr can opt out of his contract at the end of this season. Should he decide he doesn't want to get mass murdered anymore behind Houston's crappy offensive line, this option COULD come to fruition, which would lead me only to believe that Houston may NOT be out of the Leinart sweeps yet.

In which case we sign Carr and then draft Wright/Ngata if we're picking high enough.

FWIW there are 2 things on ESPN today draft related, an article by Todd McShay, and a draft chat with Kiper.

Nothing earthshattering but McShay says right now only Ferguson and Eric Winston have first round grades among OL's, they are both having bad years due to injury but still grade out high, the rest have played their way out of the first round at the moment(so you might get a Max Jean Gilles in the 2nd round).

And Kiper says very deep TE draft, has Marcedes Lewis clear cut #1 but say Vernon Davis(Maryland) and Leonard Pope(Georgia) are 2 junior who if they come out might go ahead of Lewis. He says Bush is the top RB he thinks Lendale white is 12-15th pick, says Maroney would be rated ahead of DeAngelo Williams but behind Bush, says it would go Bush, Maroney, Williams, White. Says Michael Bush(love the kid) could come out but is not a first rounder(big strong kid just learning RB would be a nice pick out of the first round). Says Calhoun from Wisconsin is a late first rounder. Compares Bush to Gale Sayers.

ALso says Greg Olsen of Miami could come out(redshirt soph) and would possibly go ahead of the other 3 TE's if he does.

FYI off topic but a funny dig at Miami, if you look at Olsen's bio on their site they list his major as "crimonology" (sic). :D

the interesting thing about Gallery was that more than one expert called him "the one sure thing in this draft"

so much for sure things.

I was kind of think that the other day. This was supposed to be the year of the OL. I even though there was a chance of 4 going in the top 10 (Ferguson, Winston, Jon Scott, and McNiel). It looks as if there may only be 4 taken the whole first round. Although I think they will make a comeback and Giles works his way back into the 1st round.

I was under the impression that the option belongs to Houston. I.e., Houston can sign Carr for another 2 or 3 years without having to compete against other teams. Am I mistaken?

Has anyone on here watched any UTEP games? What do you guys think of Jordan Palmer? Older brother Carson is obviously doing well, with the Bengals, he's a junior so he's draft eligible, has prototype size and is putting up decent numbers on a bad team. I've been wondering why I haven't heard much about him at all yet. I haven't had a chance to watch him play yet so all I have to go on is the name and stats.

From today's Kiper chat.

Brad (Albuquerque): Hey Mel..do you think Jordan Palmer can step up his game and be a good pick by the end of next year?..Price has a way of developing great college QB's.

Mel Kiper: Yes, he does. He has two sons that are helping develop Palmer at UTEP. He's 6'4 230 lbs. and he's only a Junior.

With another year at UTEP, there's no reason to think he won't get a good hard look in the NFL.

He is an intriguing prospect. By the way, UTEP is not a bad team. They aren't top twenty, but Mike Price has done a fantastic job with this club. Tyler Ebell is an elusive back that played (started?) for UCLA a couple of years back.

Outside of Ferguson the best guy would be McNeil we could then have a line-up like this:

LT: Big
LG: Ross/Wells
C: Step
RG: Brown
RT: McNeil

Good good good.
