Two guys that would be lucky if they beat out Oliver Ross THIS SEASON (not saying in future they could not).

Thus neither of these guys would help our team like Thomas or Brown.

Once again the pushing out OT problem down to a 2nd round priority is a bad move.

If the Cardinals actually signed a FA tackle maybe I would think differently but they did not.

Plus why is it OK to draft for need in round 2 and not round 1

Why are so sure about Brown other then what draft "experts" are saying?

These are the guys that said Ryan Leaf would be better then Manning, the Cade McNown draft class was equal to that from 1984, etc. They are far from perfect and even far from being actual experts. They can be and often are wrong

I'd probably agree with that

Like I said, this is more than a guess on my part and if I remember correctly Mac was the HC then

Still, didn't Graves say they had Suggs rated very low, much lower than every other team in the draft? Hopefully, he has Thomas in his top 5 and not a 3rd rounder.

Just from watching him play on TV, and I have been keeping a close eye on the OL draft class.

By the way I keep asking the same question right back at you and others. What makes you so sure about Landry, or Nelson, or Gaines Adams, or J.Anderson, or Branch (who has huge question marks BTW) ?

I'm not. I've learned to leery of the draft even with players I've seen. Too many factors go into deciding who would be a good fit on our team (i.e size, speed, system player, attitude, etc).

Heck people on here before the beginning of free agency wanted to overpay for a past 3rd rounder (Starks).

The draft is a crapshoot and to minimize the bust potential, the best way to draft is by picking BPA (with need factored in) NOT based on need. If the coaches think Brown is the BPA at 5 then so be it but I have my doubts

I agree with you Rugby that we have a glaring need at Left OT. We are also long past due to solidify the OL. I do hate to see us reach for somebody to fill that need though in the draft. I am starting to prepare myself for a worst-case scenario of Gorin, Ross, Wells or maybe Gandy there next year. I am not excited about it though. Putting a high draft pick Rookie there next year doesn't excite me either.

There is always the hope that Grimm can figure out who needs to be where and how to get the most out of each player in those slots before the season starts though. If that were to happen we would automatically be ahead of where we were at the start of last season at least. So maybe something can be worked out. Having said that it did seem like the OL last year was building some chemistry down the stretch though. If Grimm can figure it out before the season starts then maybe by midseason they can really start to gel.

the bolster the offensive line and utilize all the talent and the money infused with that talent on offense.

I have a feeling that this is what the Cardinals are thinking as well.

PR Value

On Draft Day the Cards will take a BIG hit if they don't address the OL in the first round, as EVERYONE knows that's(OL), the team's achiles (Sp) heel. Even if they select one of the second tier OT's, the argument, and a valid one, would be that the team didn't improve their OL. At least for this year. Many mocks that I've read has Houston picking Brown at #8 or #9, I forget which, so if we trade down I would think that Houston should be picking behind us.

If Thomas is not there (boo) I believe we have to trade down a bit. As much as I believe several of the guys on the defensive side of the ball would be first year contributors the tackle position is such a glaring need, we have to get as many bodies into camp as we can.

I think the "cattle call" will not represent last years mayhem. If I were drafting, I move down a couple of spots, pick up maybe an extra 3 and take Brown in the first and if Staley is available in round 2, I take him as well. Might even go for a tackle with the extra 3. We all know that is far and away the biggest need, so what the heck go for it!

By the way I still go after Gandy and sign him. Read in today's Republic that Beisel might be signed in the next few days. That is a good thing as he is a very servicable LB who will help.

Keep an eye on T Renardo Foster (6-7, 322) of Louisville...who is starting to climb the charts as a sleeper second day pick.
