Found that this guy is in the know about the NFL Cap. He was about 95% correct last year.

Arizona

The Cardinals could get a third- or fourth-round pick, or they could get nothing. They lost one player who definitely will qualify and signed one player who definitely will qualify. The question is whether Terrelle Smith will count as a player lost and whether Jason Wright will count as a player signed. At this point, I would project that both of them will qualify based on their contract values, leaving the Cardinals with no comp picks. If Wright qualfies and Smith doesn't, they wouldn't get a comp pick, either. But if Smith qualifies and Wright doesn't, the Cardinals would get a third- or fourth-round pick as compensation for losing Antonio Smith.

Why are T. Smith and Wright even in the conversation requarding comp picks!?

What are they classified as? I'm sure they only got one yr. deals, how can that disqualify them for comp. on a departure such as A. Smith?

If Smith doesn't qualify, then the Cardinals won't get a comp pick for Smith because his loss is offset by the signing of Bryant McFadden.

The only way the Cardinals get a comp pick is if Smith qualifies and Jason Wright does not. That would give them two players lost and only one signed, which would leave them with one comp pick.

If both do qualify, wouldnt that be 2 lost and 2 gained. Meaning at least the possibility of a late 7th round comp pick?

I think there is a money value line cutoff for comp picks. But i do know this.
T. Smith made $1,003,770 for FY-09. He played for 8 games got hurt and was cut on 16 Dec 09..

J. Wright made $825,000 for FY-09. He was just a special teamer and did a few plays on the offense.

The NFL keeps it a secret each year as to what is the cut off is. Why I dont know.

Also Monty Beisel was picked up by KC and played for 3 games. Does he count even though he was picked up late in the year by the cardinals??

Every year a bunch of fans drool over a hypothetical 3rd or 4th round supplemental pick that, in the end, we seldom if ever get. No different this year.

Note - It drives me nuts that other teams seem to automatically have extra picks drop into their laps in April, but we seem to always come out on the short stick.

Maybe it's our after-shave.

Well then Jeff please get rid of the Old Spice. We need some of those comp picks.
