2011-12 New players: biggest surprise

Which of the new players might surprise you the most in the coming season in way of exceeding expectations and overall contribution to the team?

Some of the new players will have bigger roles than others, but unlike last year when the Suns signed Warrick and Childress to multi-year contracts and traded for Turkoglu, all our newcomers this year have been signed to one-year deals and aren't expected to be a major part of this team for years to come. None are also expected to start, although Brown will battle Dudley for the starting SG spot.

On the other hand, a one-year contract for a guy like Brown and Telfair means they have one year to prove that they are worthy of a longer, more lucrative deals. Brown no doubt came here thinking Nash will help him secure a big contract next summer, wherever that may be. And Telfair has a chance to accomplish what a dozen others have more or less failed over the last seven years: keep the Suns from imploding when Nash goes to the bench.

And will Markieff Morris finally help the Suns make up for a number of first-round blunders in the recent past? To do that he will not only have to make a significant contribution to the Suns team, but also outplay his twin brother who was selected right after him in the draft and was thought to be the better Morris.

If any one of them is better than mediocre I'd be impressed.

I vote Telfair. He was considered one of the top prep players IN HISTORY. He has the talent to be great. But he has never played in a system where he could create in the open court. Also, with Nash's age and this compact schedule, he will likely get opportunity to play.

I am not saying that he will be that much improved, just that he is more likely than the others to do so.

I have to pick Morris, because today, I think he is just barely above average for an 10th spot player. I would love to be wrong. I think the others are a known commodity, and won't surprise.
