Dallas gets smoked by the Lakers
OKC beats Memphis in 6

OKC v. LA is one for the ages... and homecourt probably wins it for LA.
I thought they re-seeded the teams in the second round based on seed. Didn't they used to do this or were they changing it? I mean it really doesn't matter. the mavs would have to play the lakers(if LAL and Dal make it) eventually.

oh and by the way. the lakers are having a battle for the ages with the hornets currently. LOL. OKC is the least of their worries.

I see a good 7 gamer there, and it depends on how well Kobe holds up and which Gasol shows up. Bynam hasn't been injured for about a week now, I wonder how long that lasts.
Well we will see. We might have a few game 7 series in the first round of the playoffs. Don't count memphis out against OKC either if they beat the spurs. Memphis is tough and very athletic as well.

the common perception around the league is that when cuban whines it ultimately backfires. I guess you can look for evidence in the amount of money he has paid to the NBA. Nate Mcmillian got fined 35K for his remark earlier....if it were cuban it would have been 100k.

Phil Jackson is one that actually said whining to the press causes the officials to get personal and ultimately leads to calls being emotional. He even eluded to mark's ranting leading to dallas getting hurt against miami in the finals by the officiating. Other professionals(not fans) have also said this hurts dallas with officiating. Look at the joey crawford stat. Dallas is like 4-13 in playoff games that he calls.

I don't know about portland, I will say that in the 4th quarter of the last game the calls went their way. However, they were more aggressive than dallas. they outscored them in the paint 18-0 in the 4th. that is inexcusable for dallas and is why they lost.

In this game dallas was aggressive from the start. Chandler was finally a beast. Dirk attacked the rim a lot more than previously. Marion also got into the paint. Dallas scored about half of their points in the paint, which for them is very good. I'd say they got to the line a lot because they were aggressive.

I thought the lopsided results had to do with Dan Crawford. Is Joey also an issue?

Fine or no fine. When you complain, particularly in the playoffs, Stern adjusts so that you don't appear right in your accusations. One of the most important things to Stern is that he is always right.

they've never re-seeded the playoffs. and the Lakers are just dicking around right now. this reminds me of the Rockets series two years ago. even if it goes 7, ain't no way the Hornets ever take another game in LA. The lakers just can't get motivated to beat a team they know they can't lose to.

they'll throttle Dallas though... that's a team who actually talks trash to the Lakers which means LA will delight in making them look foolish.

The Lakers never win the series they should win easy the way they should. They always screw around with them. I am not worried..Game 5 is pretty big, but even if they lose game 5 it's the kick in the pants the team needs. If they can't bring it in a game 6 after a loss, well ef them, they didn't deserve a title shot. I doubt that happens though. They are a roller coaster to cheer for.

As for the Spurs, I saw it coming. So did a lot of people. This isn't a shock to me...they are outmatched..why do you think Memphis tanked the last two games of the year? They simply match up with this time like crazy. Nice season, Spurs...enjoy the offseason. Of course, the Lakers might diddle themselves into a fishing trip, but they are close to HCA if they can just start playing basketball...

I got one question, cause I'm not that fammiliar with NBA rules:

Is there some kind of prize money or award for winning the regular season top spot in your division/conference, or does just the playoff winner matter?

it's funny how the lakers can lose games to the worst playoff team in the conference and people make excuses for them.

the spurs are done...but the lakers are just taking games off.

PS...the lakers aren't taking games off. they are getting beat. they might win the series, but I promise you they are trying to win and they are losing. it is what it is. they may throttle other teams, but they have to beat the hornets first.

Memphis is 3-1 in the regular season against OKC, just saying.
memphis has a winning record over dallas too. this team can legitimately make it to the WCF if they can finish the spurs off.

we will see. both dallas and LA have their hands full right now. If I'm dallas i wouldn't fear the lakers at all the way they are playing.

it's funny how winning every game that actually matters over two years does that, huh?

that's the bottom line for the Lakers. Look, I hate it. they're like the biggest ****-tease in the world when it comes to losing the last two years and if you watch them over that time, you come to understand exactly what they are. a team that is seemingly only motivated to win the games they ABSOLUTELY have to. that's not an excuse... it's just who they are.

you said the same thing two months ago... then the Lakers handled them with relative ease in Dallas (and without Kobe for most of the second half) and then kicked the every living snot out of them in LA and made them look like complete and utter fools in the second game... both games BOTH TEAMS DESPERATELY NEEDED to win... and the result was predictable.

LA will dominate Dallas for two reasons: a) Dallas runs their mouth for some reason, which provide the extra motivation the Lakers need for a team who otherwise stands very little challenge to them and b) they don't have that one thing that absolutely kills the Lakers... an insane PG. The combo of those two factors is what tips the scales heavily in LA's favor in that eventual series.

Damn, Rose is doing his thing again. A little of this, a little of that, taking the game over on both sides of the court.

:lies: pacers cracking under pressure as soon as Bulls picked up their intensity.
The block at the rim and the three 3 pointers in a matter of seconds smelled like Roses to me. That happened right when the Pacers were trying to make a run. Plus it sparked his team, Rose=bad mamma jamma. :)
