Having moved to Phoenix from the East coast 36 years ago, I always root for the National League team from the West.

On the West bank of the Mississippi . . . go St. Louis. Demolish the Giants.

I have a ton of San Francisco Giants' relatives and they all boast "It is an even year, that is when we win it all". And I tell them. yeah, in 2010 and 2012.

But what about 1958, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980. 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008? Crickets
