hahaha

I started this because I'm not convinced Palmer will be 100% healthy or even in the game by next season. Part of me thinks he'll retire.

Stanton and Palmer will both be on the roster. I think that their injuries were of the Black Swan variety, and it's unusual for 2 QBs to go down to injury like that. I wouldn't be surprised to go into 2014 training camp with Palmer, Stanton, Lindley, and Thomas again.

Otherwise, you have guys like Matt Moore, Jake Locker... veterans that might be good buy low candidates but could also be looking for something where they could improve their value.

Any ideas?

Free agents, not a lot. But potential trades, according to NFL.com, these are potentially available:

Jay Cutler-No thanks. Much, much too erratic.

Geno Smith-Again, no thanks.

Mike Glennon-Intriguing with the right system. He's young so he has an upside.

RGIII-He won't be available but I'd take him in a country second.

EJ Manuel-Your typical Florida St. QB. just not cut out to be an NFL QB although he's young as well. I'd take a flyer out on him for the right price.

Frankly, there just isn't anything there. And the draft isn't much better.

Well said, my sentiments exactly!

Would he do a "pay only if you play" type of contract?

Cause I would give $10 of guaranteed money to watch his Popsicle stick legs be rehabbed yet again.

Agree, I think he'll be gone.

My draft prediction is that Kelly will throw everything at TB or Tenn to get Mariota to run his system in the NFL. They are not that far away and he can probably convince the FO that Mariota is the missing piece.

Fans sincerely overrate how important college players are to these coaches when they get to the NFL. What Stanford players did Harbaugh bring to the 49ers? What happened to the flood of Southern Cal talent that Carroll was supposed to bring with him to Seattle? Nick Saban brought a ton of SEC players to Miami and quickly became a laughing-stock. Greg Schiano brought a ton of Rutgers-types to Tampa and quickly became a joke.

I think that Chip Kelly is smarter than this.

Tampa Bay needs a QB, and unless Philly mortgages their next two drafts for Mariotta, that's not happening.

Palmer is going nowhere and I honestly expect him to be our starter, and wear that damn brace on the knee like he should have been this season. Thomas is going nowhere, because of the very actions of how BA is handling him. This leaves Stanton and Lindley, you got me what happens to those guys. I would really like a trade for Glennon from the Bucs, but I do not see the reality of BA thinking Glennon could be our number 2 when he is developmental prospect (though light years ahead of Thomas because he has accuracy). Logan Thomas is the fly in the ointment so to speak. He is the one holding up any proactive move to the future, unless he is the future. BA and his legacy with the Cards revolves around a fourth round pick. Personally, I would move Thomas to the practice squad and if he gets lost in the shuffle to another team so be it because that is his value right now far removed from being on the active roster... a fourth round pick is not worth ones coaching tenure or the success of a team :)

Agree he is a head case and someone you don't want to deal with.

Geno Smith-Again, no thanks.

Never was a NFL quality QB.

Mike Glennon-Intriguing with the right system. He's young so he has an upside.

Agree, I find him intriguing enough to trade for him at the right price.

RGIII-He won't be available but I'd take him in a country second.

Would not touch him with a 39 1/2 foot pole. I don't think he puts in the work required for him to become a NFL QB and he is too fragile.

EJ Manuel-Your typical Florida St. QB. just not cut out to be an NFL QB although he's young as well. I'd take a flyer out on him for the right price.

I just don't think he has the goods to be a good NFL QB.

Frankly, there just isn't anything there. And the draft isn't much better.

Slim pickings and the draft holds no real deals either.

They're going to have to offer Foles and a bunch of picks at either TB or Tennessee for that. I'm talking a Mike Ditka trying to get Ricky Williams type of draft pick trade and the Eagles have too many holes on defense to give up too many picks.

The fact that he opted for Charlie Whitehurst as his backup over a much younger Leinart should tell you something. McKay did that in 1977 and it bit him in the ass. If you remember, he opted for Ricky Bell instead of Tony Dorsett in the first round then drafted Dave Lewis instead of Nolan Cromwell or Welsey Walker in the 2nd round. The Bucs might have had the tools to win the NFC championship in 1979 instead of getting shut out.

Would LOVE to have Palmer as our starter and our backups be Stanton and either Locker, Glennon, or even a guy like Sanchez/Geno.

.... Apparently we need better depth

I have to disagree with aportion of your post. I do not believe BASK would let their ego's get in the way if there was a chance to improve this team. If it meant letting Thomas go I think we would do it in a heartbeat, admit to a mistake and move on.
I do believe Thomas will be on this team next year, but it will be on the practice squad.
