http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/13/chris-culliver-lands-deal-in-d-c/

Culliver will sign a four-year contract to join the team’s secondary.

Another defection for the 49ers..wow

Willis (retired)
Gore (Indy)
Iupati (US)
Skuta (Jaguars)
Culliver (Redskins)

Stevie Johnson (released)

Smith (expected to retire)
Crabtree (free agent expected to depart)

They've gained Torrey Smith, and they hosted Reggie Bush, but he left without a contract.

But they are also barely hanging onto Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks. Wouldn't be surprised to see either go at some point before the season starts.

The 49ers just adjusted Smith's contract down. It's an interesting deal, if only because it could set the standard for what the Cards could do with Daryl Washington in a year once he no longer has them under a barrel.

Is there a possibility that the Cards cleared cap space so they could release Washington and absorb his cap hit?

They did, but from an earlier thread where I cited it, it was basically a take it or leave it offer where like you said it allows them to cut him for whatever reason, for instance if he gets into trouble again... or simply if they decide to move on.

It's possible we could do something similar, but we'd have to get him to agree to such a deal, and as of now I don't think Keim has scared DWash like Baalke apparently scared Aldon. (But Keim hasn't been too far behind with his various comments over the last ~6-8 months).

That said a straight cut would probably imo be on the backburner, as a way to use the space we created say if we don't land AP or use the space in FA otherwise. We didn't create the space TO do this, but if we can't find usage for it, possibly. But imo it might take another offense for us to pull the trigger.

Interesting theory, and it makes sense. I haven't heard anything in months (officially) about how the Cards will deal with the Washington conundrum.

The thing that doesn't quite line up with this theory is that the Cards waited until the last day to restructure Palmer for potential use of the freed up cap space. If the plan was to cut Washington all along, presumably, the Cards would have not waited to consummate the restructure with Palmer.

God/Orbitz Send Antron to Chicago

I just asked God—it was Sunday night before I was going to sleep—I just asked him, "God, I pray that you just give me a level head. I pray that you just give me a sign to lead me in the right direction, and I'll follow your lead."

It was Monday morning at 4:33 a.m. I never wake up in the middle of the night, and it was 4:33 Monday morning, and I got an email to my phone. And the email said, "Orbitz alert: flights to Chicago, discount fair." And I'm like, "wow," you know what I mean?

Nah, that was probably just the new Facebook spying that reads your conversations and gives you ads based on them..

Like the guy who got an ad for funeral service after he talked about himself battling for cancer.

Probably something like that...

like seeing that Spiller signing. makes me think the Saints are gonna go for another run with Brees and not trade him to Tampa, which would make them more attractive to Peterson.

Great observation. Didn't think about that one actually...

Schefter basically laughed everyone off the set on Mike and Mike when they asked about Brees being traded. From brand, to cap hit, to team chances....that aint happening.

Former Arizona Cardinals TE Rob Housler ``visited'' the Falcons today, I'm told. Not sure if it means he left town without signing/will sign

Love that bolded word!

The Vikings do not want to trade him. The Cardinals would have to give up a king's ransom to acquire him. Dallas found that out and probably why they went and got McFadden and the Cardinals know this too :)
