Harlan Miller Draft Profile – NFL.com

Overview

Miller was named third-team FCS All-American by The Associated Press as a junior, despite fighting through a dislocated shoulder that cost him three games. He then improved that honor to second-team AP All-American in 2015. Miller picked off 11 passes and broke up 22 others over the past three years using his height and length, earning first team All-Southland Conference honors each season. Miller also proved he could make plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage as a senior, making six tackles for loss, while additionally returning punts (15 for 175 yards), receiving first-team all-conference notice at that position. He looks to join former teammate Robert Alford (drafted in the second round by Atlanta in 2013) in the league.

Vertical: 32 inches

Miller is a tall, thin-framed athlete with light feet to mirror in man coverage, but appears most comfortable in off-coverage where he can use his drive mechanics and toughness to make stops vs. the run and the pass. Although he doesn't have ideal strength or speed, Miller plays with a chip on his shoulder and the fluid athleticism that is worth developing.

Miller failed to impress much in Indianapolis, running the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds and getting only six reps on the bench press.

Miller shaved his 40 time to 4.57 seconds at Southeastern’s Pro Day but fell to only four reps on bench.

Despite his disappointing performance in Indiana, both the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers have given Miller workouts in Hammond earlier this month, which he said went well.

“They come and see how well I can learn,” Miller said. “They’ll try to teach me something, and I’ll have to repeat it back to them. When we go to the field for drills, they want to see how well I can move and my ball skills. After that, we go out to eat and talk about life and football and what to expect and how to prepare.”

I love this pick, particularly more that the Williams pick. I think Miller is more NFL ready than Williams right now and will wind up the better player. His lack of strength is his biggest weakness (listed at 182 and only 4 reps at 225) but that's something that can be improved. Love his play making ability and his willingness to come up in run support. Not a blazer like Williams but his 40 time (4.57) is nearly identical to Richard Sherman (4.56) and almost a whole tenth of a second faster than Josh Norman (4.66).

I like the fact that ARZ took 2 CB's as they really needed depth.

Favorite picks in order: Nkemdiche, Boehm, Miller....rest of draft.

Totally agree about this kid! I've been pimping him for weeks now. Great ball skills

I'm ignoring his 40time because he plays faster on the field. He's also got return skills

Scott Wright Senior Bowl Watch:

Harlan Miller, CB, Southeastern Louisiana

Enjoyed a strong week of practices, emerging from the pack of small school cover guys and putting himself in Top 100 contention.

Nah, the normal kids who cannot afford an SEC school go to schools like SE LA. Many of the kids are JUCO transfers. He earned his spot.
