Don't really know a lot about him but the Cards history says we're going to like him.

I don't mind reaching for the small-school kid. He's the style of WR we need to complement the position on our roster. The problem is the arrest. Wrong place, wrong time falls so, so far short of being an adequate explanation. If you're finding yourself in THAT place, you're a complete moron and deserve to get busted, even if--IF--you're completely innocent. You have to accept responsibility for ALLOWING yourself to be in that 'wrong place.'

With our locker room issues last season, why would we reach for someone with character issues?

I rally think he was vetted by Keim & his staff otherwise Keim would not say that he is a "good kid."

The character thing bothers me for a different reason. We all want guys that "play mad" and "don't back down" but we want them to be choir boys off the field. Does that guy exist? Probably, but more often than not guys who play angry are angry guys. Angry guys get in trouble.

anybody have real info on this guy?
I do,(now).

Big, physical, possession guy who runs a 4.45 but is consider a slow-acceleration long strider. Weed, weapons and "wrong crowd" part of his resume.
Impressed at Senior Bowl.

It seems to me that players rolled off the board with a greater than usual degree of predictability. Slim pickins remain.

I'm not thrilled that we moved back from #77 to #98 with Webb, Dobbs and Peterman still, out there. Oh well, can't draft everybody. We pick 8th on Day 3. Maybe Dobbs will be there. Maybe SK will use a late pick to trade up a little & get him.

If we hit a home run with Williams, he gives us what we lost when Floyd left. Big "If."

NFL.com had him projected in 5-6 round.. major reach in between two corners who might have helped.. but it has worked out before.

+1.

Kiem better be smarter than everyone else, because he had a chance at some great cornerback talent, my hindsight 20/20 comments, I will be keeping to myself until after the entire draft is done.

By ....WOW, the Cardinals are going complete boom or bust in this draft, IMO. From round 1 to round 3, there have been nothing but questionable prospects that are boom or bust.

Trading down and taking this receiver instead of taking one of 4 quality cornerbacks on the board, that say what you want about BPA, Fabian Moreau is better than Williams. I am more than willing to eat crow on that comment later.

The Cardinals regime may be seeing the end of BA&SK as the board likes to say. Getting too cute, and too reactionary with their roster setups the last two years.

Unsure he's Antonio brown but the comparison doesn't hurt my feelings.

Hopefully Chad Williams realizes he is one of the luckiest players in this draft. In Fitzgerald, he has the opportunity to learn what it takes to succeed from one of the best receivers ever.. both on and off the field

I am curious to see if Moreau becomes a good CB in the NFL and we missed a big opportunity here. Still could have got Williams in the 4th maybe.

From what I was reading his range was 2nd to 4th round with first half of 3rdbeing most likely. So it sounds like he went right where he should have.

Just because we, or sports writers, didn't know who he was or where he was projected to go doesn't mean we or the writers were right.

From what I read that was written pre-draft he isn't a reach.

Chad Williams reminds me a little of Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco). He plays with an attitude that is similar to Steve Smith. I will be interested to watch him develop.

Not sure I like this quote from Williams:

“It don’t feel real,” Williams told Stephanie Lindsey of the GSU Media Bureau. “Man, I worked so hard that if I had to do it over again I wouldn’t do it over again. That’s how hard I worked.”

That quote was being talked about on local radio this morning. To be honest I never took it that way when he said it. I took it to mean that he worked really hard and he wouldn't change a thing . Not that he would never work hard again.

Im not thrilled with the pick. However, I can see why they like him. Hes got good size and speed. His numbers arent as dominant as one would like.

When looking at small school guys, the rule is they should dominate. Considering Cooper Kupp was out there getting 1,700 yards and 20 TDs, Chads 1,100 and 10 just doesnt impress.

1337 and 11 TDs. Though I just don't think it is that simple. Just look at Fitz to get an idea of how the team around you can affect your stats. If your QB or O-line or your other offensive weapons aren't good enough your stats will suffer. Not saying that is the case in this situation only that it isn't as simple as comparing his numbers to another small school receiver as any sort of proof as to whether he will be good or not.

Actually looking at passing stats for both of those teams. EW averaged 120 more passing yards per game and had 21 more passing TDs last year than GSU did. That clearly shows that EW is much more of a passing offense than GSU and thus is a big part of the difference in their individual stats IMO.

Palmer had to deal with Ocho Pyscho... he can handle Chad Wacko one would imagine :)
