Watch game film on him...and you come away extremely impressed. He's almost always in the backfield...practically every snap. Even when he's double teamed...he splits the gap so fast that the linemen don't have a chance to get their hands on him. His athleticism is off the charts, and he's very aware of what the offense is trying to do. Doesn't take plays off, and has a very high motor. Looks a lot like Aaron Donald coming out of college. Would be a steal at 13...much like Donald was at pick #11.

Like I mentioned, my only concern is as a scheme fit. Instead of adding weight, would the Cards ask him to drop 10 pounds, or so, to add even more speed as an edge rusher?

Good players will force their way onto the field so I'd be okay with him as the pick.

Im less concerned about size or scheme. Aaron Donald is 6'0, 280. Thats practically hobbit size for a DT. But hes easily the best DT in the NFL.

Skill always wins. I think he'll be just fine at his 6'3. 285-ish

and on a sidenote, thats funny we're talking about 6'3, 285 being "too small" for anything. If a 6'3 285 guy were standing next to you, youd feel like a 4 year old. Its unreal just how big that person is

Being shorter, as a D-Lineman, is almost an advantage. You're automatically below pad level and gain leverage on the O-Lineman. Only thing is, to be successful...you have to have a very quick first step, and have a very strong base so you don't get pushed around. Both Donald and Solomon have those characteristics.

He'll be a good pro in any system. Juza I'm right there with u man. I'd like to get our QB in the 2nd, maybe even trade up from our 2nd. Get another interior younger vet OL.

Cooper is decent with better FS play. That was our primary issue coverage wise, imo. And Mathieu needs to play closer to the action. Sign Swearinger or Jefferson to play SS.

It depends on what you are being asked to do. Vs the run, most defensive linemen have to be able to extend, see the ball carrier, disengage, and then tackle. The shorter you are, the harder it is to do that. Vs the pass shorter arms also makes it easier to be held because it is tougher to create separation to show the officials that you are being held. If you are just asking the player to blow through the hole and run down the QB or ball carrier, than being short can be very helpful.

I looked it up and Frostee Rucker is listed at 6'3 280 and he's been effective in the Cards scheme so I'd be okay with Thomas.

The Cardinals love versatility...and down the stretch last year they even tried Alex Okafor as an inside rusher. Solomon Thomas can do both. He can rush from the edge or inside, and he has the short area quickness and power to shed blocks and make plays on the ball. I am all for this pick, if he's there at #13 and if the Cardinals address the QB position in free agency or via a trade.

My favorite player in the draft. Won't get past Carolina.

Thomas, according to just about ALL the experts, will go top five. But expressing the opinion that Nkemdiche will get it together, is a VERY BIG WISH. But if BASK thinks that will happen, then there is no need to address the DL early in the Draft. JMO.

Sorry to say that I don't know that much about S Thomas and, therefore get that "meh feeling" when his name comes up for discussion.

Someone - Within the context of our considering one of the 3 or 4 safeties, three WR's, 2 RB's, Allen, Howard or even a corner - please make your case for Thomas at #13.

He will never make it to 13 so there is no sense in making any case.

Like Harry said, he's going to be long gone when the Cardinals pick at #13. He's a versatile inside/outside rusher with big-time quicks, a la Aaron Donald.

The surprise at #13 might be DE Jonathan Allen of Alabama. Here's a scenario where he could slide to #13:

1 CLE: Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M---Ogbah and Garrett become DE dynamic dua

2 SF: Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio St.---Eric Reid slides down to SS (contract year) in favor of adding elite FS (impossible for former S John Lynch to overlook)

3 CHI: Jamal Adams, S, LSU---John Fox needs a safety to make things miserable for Rodgers and Stafford.

4 JAX: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU---bell cow RB to take pressure off Bortles

5 TEN: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford---building a Titanic defense.

6 NYJ: Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina---the jets finally get their QBOF.

7 LAC: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio St. Big, fast CB to go opposite Verrett.

8 CAR: Dalvin Cook, RB, FSU---adds lightning to Stewarts’ thunder.

9 CIN: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford---diversifies the offense in a big way.

10 BUF: John Ross, WR, Washington---the new Marguise, only way better

11 NO: Derek Barnett, Edge, Tennessee---just the edge rusher they were hoping for.

12 CLE: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech---big arm with RPMs to cut through winds off the lake.

13 AZ: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama---replaces Calais Campbell.

Mitch - I like that most recent mock, but - if accurate - it would mean a run on RB's (3) in your top 10.

Wow!
