Wow, 2-run dinger for the Astros.
For the life of me I never understand it when people say baseball is boring.
That reflects the recent philosophy of Major League hitters. Uppercut. Uppercut. Uppercut. At least it's not steroids.
And, BTW, Jansen is now coming on in the 8th for a six out save.
I saw that article reacting to Steve Garvey's opinion just a few minutes ago. 'Interesting how the author completely disagrees with him.

As I posted about "Uppercut. Uppercut. Uppercut.", I don't agree with the author. Most strategy on offense has left the game, starting with the advent of the Designator Hitter in the American League -- hitters 1-9. Of course, it is too late to reverse that now.
Not because of which league has the advantage -- the A.L. in their parks and the N.L. in their parks (generally) -- but because the DH has become so universal throughout the U.S. and the world.
In an A.L. park, the N.L. adds a sub to the lineup whereas the A.L. already has a regular D.H.
In an N.L. park, the A.L. has to bench one of their hitters in favor of a Pitcher whereas the N.L. has Pitchers with experience hitting.
I think this strategy-less baseball has led to "Uppercut. Uppercut. Uppercut." It is not about moving runners along. Go for the fences.
