I read in another thread that next year's draft class is supposedly strong for qb. Could this have been in the back of the AZ minds when building the team? They could take one to start right away and some weak teams that took a qb this year may not need to draft one.

its going to be really hard to trade up from 32 to 1, might take a few first rounders.

No matter what happens between now and then QB has to be priority #1 or #2 going in to next offseason. They can't possibly ignore it again.

Good thing we're going to have all of those comp picks next year... we did trade away our 4th rd pick though in the Budda Baker trade-up.

I can't even imagine what it would cost to go from late 20s to the #1 or 2 pick next year.

If "the guy" is available I go all Saints-for-Ricky Williams and trade our entire draft (including comp pics) to go up and get him. If he's a stud for 15 years he's worth every one of those picks.

IMO it will take a 1st next year, plus pretty much our entire draft. Trading one entire draft I wouldnt care for a top QB, adding in other first rounders...ugh....

So, Jurecki this morning heavily hinted that if Jacksonville would have been able to draft Tribinski with the 4th pick - we would have gotten Bortles for a third round pick.

I for one am pissed this did not happen. I know Bortles was not so great last year - but in 2015 he showed a lot of promise.
He performed like a top 10 qb for much of 2015 - I cannnot believe they are ready to dump him, I mean after all Matt Ryan sucked in 2015, and almost won MVP last year, QB's do have off years, and it is not like it is easy to find good young ones.

But, the good news is, he will be a free agent after the season - and he probably knows A. Jacksonville was ready to dump him, and B. Arizona already has showed they want him.

Jurecki also mentioned the Cardinals are talking to an agent for a free agent QB not named Jay Cutler or Kapernick. RG3? I don't know but I would definitely take him over stanton.

There was also a rumor Green Bay was looking at trading Brett Hundly - he is another guy I would have interest in based on his preaseason performances.

Good notes, Chopper. Thank you.

I was just thinking today that the Cardinals might not be finished addressing the QB situation.

This next phase of FA Keim Time could be very interesting.

BTW-- the Jags today decided to pick up Blake Bortles' 5th year option. What do you (and everyone) think of that?

I personally think the Jags are forced by the poor state of QB play in the league to keep Bortles. He's the best they're going to get, in my opinion.

Any free agent QB that we can sign up to this point is basically just a camp arm that at best will beat out Dysert.

Interesting - there are some available guys i like more than Stanton who would cost less, and some younger guys likely with more potential than Dysert:

I think that sucks. Well, there goes one good option for us next season.

I really don't want to relive the derek anderson / max hall days again, but I have a feeling that is where we are headed.

For those of you who want glennon next year (shrug) them drafting trubisky obviously makes that a real possibility

I suspect this guy will be the first RB off the board. Saquon Barkley, Penn State

I'm curious about the Glennon-situation in Chicago. Yes, I know the Bears put out $$ to get him but I thought I saw something on ESPN that he's upset with them drafting Tribusky. ...And we know B.A. is a big fan of Glennon. We'll see how this all shakes out.

The only reason why I even care about having a young QB is our coaching staff (Moore and Arians) to go along with Carson would be such a huge advantage for a young player. Would be interesting to see them mold a young qb for a year or two. Maybe the Broncos will release Chad Kelly before the season starts and we can pick him up. Haha

Don't remember seeing anything about BA being a big fan of Glennon. I know some posters here are and some have thought BA should/would like Glennon but nothing from BA himself.

I may be wrong so if anyone can confirm please bring me us to speed.

I remember reading something about Chicago setting up Glennon's contract so that they can easily get out of it after 1 year, which essentially puts Glennon on a 1 year expensive prove-it contract to audition for the rest of the league until Trubisky takes over. Obviously, if Glennon stinks then Trubisky takes over sooner.

If there's a player that "good" the team ain't trading back.

Especially not into the late 20s or early 30s.

People need to accept we're not getting Peyton Manning, we're getting Andy Dalton and are going to have to pay or reach for it, barring a miracle.
