3 years, $30 million. Traded for a 2nd round pick and the right to swap firsts.

My question is, When did D'Angelo Russell become a good player? We regularly panned him just a few years ago. He was a chucker who didn't make anyone better. Now he is a star (PG? SG?) for GS? Really? $30M-per good!?

The Jazz are really going to miss Favors. I would have loved to sign him, but he is too pricey for the present Suns. Sure, the Jazz got the shooter they need (Bogdonovic) but they owe a lot of their playoff wins (especially over OKC last year) to Favors. Unlike Gobert, he can't be moved out of the lane on rebounds.

That's because he was on the Lakers, so the board had to tear him down regardless of his talents.

The Lakers preferred Ball to Russell and used him to dump Mozgov's contract.

That's a bargain for the Bulls getting Santoransky for a second round pick and he is on a reasonable contract to as well.

I honestly don’t see the fit DLO in GS but good lord give the front office credit they swing for the fences over there.

They are basically paying a max contract for a sixth man. It's really a weird fit.

Even if he doesn't fit - he is a very good asset to trade in the future.

Yeah something has got to give next year.

I mean right now it looks like this:

PG Curry
SG Russell
SF Thompson
PF Green

Their first round pick is a 2 guard so that doesn't help either.

Ellington to the Knicks. Another shooter the Lakers don't get.

No, he hasn't been a Laker for 2 years and he was only a 15 & 5 player on the Lakers in his last season, which is also what he was in his first year for Brooklyn. He made a jump last year to 21 & 7 though and became an All-Star in the depleted East. He shot 40% from the field before last year also, when he was able to get up to 43%. Statistically he's not a max player, even with a good year last year.

Russell on a max deal would have crippled the Suns for the future but some still seemed in favor of it. It's unlikely he makes another All-Star team in the West during his next contract.

Here's a link to his stats, they aren't anything that screams "Max Player".

It wasn't a matter of fit. It was what they could get for their Durant cap space. They can always move him for a position of need later.
