It is but if I were a Toronto fan I'd be there too.
At the end of the day nothing is secret anymore with the way information is available. He honestly should be flattered the fans are there. They’ve shown nothing but love. Crazy they were tracking him via helicopter. That was odd. He’s a secretive dude so I hope something like that doesn’t have any impact on his decision at all.

Unfortunately the fan frenzy there, with the details of the meeting being leaked, might be the final nail in the coffin for Toronto. Expect Kawhi to be a Laker, which is what I have said from the beginning.
No different than the dude on Reddit who is supposedly Jeanie Buss’ nephew leaking details that he’s signing there. There are no secrets. The Clipps have actually done the best job in regard to meetings.

Pistons will now have had both Morris twins. Markieff seems to have digressed where Marcus has taken a step forward. It was the other way around for the first few years.

This makes some sense that Kawhi would want to make sure that Masai Ujiri remains with the Raptors.

How does that work, being Jeannie Buss' nephew? Would he be Jim's son, the brother Jeannie pushed out? I don't see her telling him what she's doing and risking it getting leaked.

Jeannie's not married so that rules out being a nephew by marriage. There is a Johnny Buss that is the eldest sibling but he has little to do with the team and no children. Jim is the only one with kids, an adopted son that is now in his 30's but was raised by his ex-wife. That Reddit kid's story falls apart in 1 google search.

You dug much deeper than I ever would. Kudos. lol. This is just what I read and what a buddy of mine in LA has told me.

I could see this coverage working against someone, I'm just not sure who. Kawhi doesn't seem like he's a fan of all of the attention and that's part of why a lot of people said he wouldn't join Lebron in LA. It seems like ever since his first meeting this offseason though there have been reports of his every move. Would he blame the US and elect to stay in Toronto because he knows what life will be like there or does he think it's ramped up now because he's in Canada being followed by helicopters and he decides to go to the Lakers, or Clippers, to get away from the Canadians?

This is worse than The Decision. I bet Lebron is jealous of this and KD probably is too. KD would have received a lot more attention if he didn't get hurt. The Knicks wouldn't even give him a max deal though and that had to sting.
Imo nothing is worse than the decision. Ever.

Is Booker a great facilitator? He also averaged 7 assists. It's not just about assists per game as your usage percentage is directly tied to your assist numbers.

Also I didn't say he was a poor facilitator, but just not a great one and next to guys like Booker and Ayton I see that as a bigger need than his ability to score.

When you use the term "not a great" facilitator then follow that up with not a good fit, the inference is it's not something he is good at. That's aside from the fact that feeding guys at that clip works for offensive minded players and he does it better than the guy we got (Rubio).

There is only one guy in the league that does it at more than 10. There are 3 above 8. So there is one guy that is great? If that is your position than pointing that out doesn't mean much since he is up there with the next tier. The next tier of players are separated by an assist or less (7 to 8).

He is in fact a good to very good facilitator depending on what you consider Westbrook is to the next tier down. The point being that pointing to DLo's assists is a pretty weak part of the argument. Anybody IMO that can put up 6 plus assists or more makes his team better and helps out offensive minded players

But hey we got Rubio. I hope he can continue finding his way into the paint or we are going to wish we had that 20 along with the 7.

I think he is breaking this. Kawhi signing with the Raptors makes so much sense for Kawhi both from a financial and career perspective.

Its great for the league too.

God I hope he is right.

If true, he really shafted the Lakers, they have an entire roster to fill and could have landed some legit starters with their space but now almost all their options are dried up.

I am a little nervous about the Clippers throwing money at Oubre. They don't have a starting caliber small forward right now.

Is someone keeping a running tab of all the moves? I am too lazy to do it myself. Someone keeping track?

I've said it all along, he'll sign a 2 year deal there, or have a way to opt out after 2 years. There is no reason for him to leave. He seems to like his teammates, coach, and GM as well as the city. The team he's on has a short window based on the ages of Gasol, Lowry, and Ibaka. They can try to 3-Peat and then Kawhi can see if he wants to go to Cali for a lot more money then.

I think Toronto is an underrated big market. It needed this title win to really get Canada to embrace the NBA and basketball but now it should be right below New York and LA in terms of market size and media. It's ranked 4th in media market size behind those 2 cities and Chicago. It shouldn't be the weird city in another country that is viewed negatively anymore.

I gave you a link with that info a few pages back. It's on Spotrac's site.

Not exactly what I was looking for. Someone had a good summary of all the moves since draft night through now. I will have to find it. Appreciate the link though.

I also said that there is more to being a great facilitator than raw assists per game numbers. Rubio is without a doubt a better passer than DLo and the only reason he wasn't dishing out more assists was a combination of playing fewer minutes and playing in an offense that ran the offense through multiple play makers (Rubio, Ingles and Mitchell). DLo on the other hand played in an offense that allowed him to use up a lot more possessions. Again I am not saying that DLo is a bad facilitator, but he isn't great and when you combine that with low efficiency scoring, high usage and poor defense he just is not as good of a fit as Rubio. He also doesn't provide the locker room presence and experience that Rubio has either.

Yeah, I think you missed my point. He is a good facilitator. Your definition of great is nebulous at best. Can you show me an instance where someone who passes the ball that much didn't have offensive minded guys that benefited? To say he doesn't fit is ridiculous. I get the argument about his defense but that ship sailed with Saric anyway. Where Dlo struggles defensively some on this forum have pointed out Rubio struggles offensively. It's not like Rubio has checks across the board. I think we are trading one weakness for another.

Both of which are needs for this team (taking scoring pressure off of Booker and adding someone who gets other involved).

I am not arguing either is perfect only that the idea that either of them can't fit is a stretch.
