Source confirms: #Nationals close to bringing back free-agent infielder Howie Kendrick. Will be one year-deal with mutual option. Had two year-offers, but preferred to go back to D.C. First reported: ⁦‪@dougherty_jesse‬⁩.

Free-agent RHP Brad Brach signs with #Mets, one year, $850K with a player option for $1.25M in 2021, sources tell The Athletic. Brach still owed $500K by #Cubs for 2020, so actually will earn total of $1.35M next season.

Rumor that Marcell Ozuna is signing with the White Sox with announcement coming Monday is not true, I’m told. White Sox appears to be concentrating on pitching at the moment.

Word continues to be that top free agent pitcher Gerrit Cole will go with the best value/deal regardless of geography. That’s more good news for the Yankees, who are being aggressive. Main competition seems to be coming from his hometown Angels and perhaps Dodgers.

Gregorius seems likely to get 14-15M a year on a multiyear, which may price out Reds, who like him but are covered there with Galvis, in case. Phillies, others thought to be in.

Phillies are on Donaldson so there’s competition in division. They remain in spend mode. Incumbent Braves and Nats also in 3B market. Rangers are too. Looks like musical chairs with more teams than available stars. Rendon the other big 3B free agent, Bryant potential trade guy.
