Spurs just waived Luka Samanic, long thought to be a part of their future core. I think this all but guarantees that Thaddeus Young will be a Spur at least until the Trade Deadline, if not for the entire season. Probably means that Al-Farouq Aminu (a potential nice consolation prize in the Torrey Craig role) won't become available, either.

I've gained some respect for the Sixers. I think their demands in a Simmons deal have been ridiculously high but that is their prerogative. Simmons has too much time left on his deal to be making trade demands, especially with how he's tried sabotaging certain deals because he doesn't like the destination. If you want max money then there are certain teams who will pay them that, others don't value him that much, and that's on him.

Lakers are working towards signing Sekou Doumbouya to a two-way contract.

I wish the Suns would look at doing something like this with their other two-way spot.

Samanic is a slightly more polished version of Bender. I wouldn't mind using a two-way spot on him but I think he'll go overseas rather than take one of those deals. His salary for this season is guaranteed so he'll get paid by San Antonio regardless, which might cause him to decide to give the NBA one more shot before going back since the pay isn't really an issue this year. Motivation was an issue in San Antonio though so I'm not sure if he's willing to put in the work.

It would be nice for the Spurs to help pay for two Suns players (Chandler Hutchinson the other) but as you note, the Suns would probably have the same issue.

Also it just so happens Thad Young is on the Spurs roster. It seems the tide has changed.

that's a shame. that kid is electric when he can actually be on the court and in shape. but that's a pretty rare period for his entire career.

He needs to trim down. The guy isn't fat in the slightest but I don't think the human body's joints and bones can withstand what his weight and muscles are asking of them.
