So Cleveland. On the roster: Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, and Ricky Rubio. Kinda like the Suns of a few years ago.

Cleveland took BPA when they drafted Garland even when they had Sexton. Now Sexton on the block and I think they will get way more than a first for him.

Why? I know why he's on the block, Garland has been very good in his absence even though they were missing key players - I mean, why would anyone give up a decent pick for him let alone "way more than a first"?

Watch and see its just my opinion. He has talent on the NBA level.
He has athleticism on a star level but his head just isn't right IMO. To me, he's always been a poor man's Eric Bledsoe. You might want him as a momentum changer off the bench but he doesn't make your team better most nights. Maybe I'm being too judgmental from a small sampling but in the few games I've watched him I really haven't seen much growth from him, he's still making the same poor decisions he made in college.

I like Collin Sexton but at this stage of his career (22) he is more of a shooting guard than a point guard and needs the ball in his hands to be most effective.

A coach like Popovich might be able to fix this.

Garland and Sexton in the same back court is not a good idea.

I don't think he's the worst player in the league or anything like that, I just don't see how he'd be worth "way more than a first round pick". Bad knee, poor judgement - I don't see how Pop could fix either of those. He can score so if the knee doesn't cost him too much of his physical ability he could have a place on a team but I don't think any winning team will want him as a starter.

I'd give up a Suns late first if they have one and Stix in a heartbeat. Believe or not Some teams could use him.
I don't know if I would but I thought you were suggesting a lot more than a bottom of the barrel pick and a player with very little value. If his knee were healthy, I could see a team willing to pay that price including us if the need was really there. But like I've said, I don't think you can win consistently in this league if he's starting at either guard spot.

There's also the issue that he believes his value is FAR greater than his play has warranted, that's why prior to this last injury there was speculation he was going to take the QO and walk afterward if he didn't get a max. I'm sure that's changed somewhat since his latest knee injury but most of us thought the same with Nerlens Noel and it took another low dollar contract or two to make him understand his place in the NBA scheme of things (decent role player, not a star).

I wasn't making a case of trading for Sexton. He is out for the season and could well walk as a free agent.

He is a player that intrigues me though.

Kelly Oubre burning that GS bridge.

Don't burn bridges Kelly. Never know when you may need to cross them again.

Yeah, but in a way he might be right. For his game, Charlotte may very well play a more team oriented style. Now, if he was a better catch and shoot player, it might go the other way. But you're right, he should have phrased that in such a way that he didn't burn any bridges.

The team oriented part is wrong but the screen part is definitely true. The problem is Steph sets screens for everyone else too. Oubre's problem was he didn't fit he often had to make open 3's which he's not that great at, and he settled too much for 3's.

Good player just not a fit for the system they play.

You either have to make 3's or move without the ball and pass/screen that's not his game

For me it's not a matter of being right or wrong. He could praise Charlotte and leave it at that.

In Phoenix Kelly moved without the ball but he is rhythm 3-point shooter.

He is not pure shooter in the sense where you work to get him an open shot. That's not his game.

I'm not sure what the Lakers have to trade for Ben Simmons.

Jerami Grant would look good in a Suns uniform.

I don't get the appeal of Jerami Grant. He is scoring via volume shooting on an awful team, an awful team that he chose to join so he could be the focal point of an offense. On our team he would be like the 4th or 5th option, I think he'd hate it here.

He also is going to be out a until sometime in February with torn tendons in his hand.

Khris Middleton has possible hyper-extended left knee.

I doubt the Suns go after Jerami Grant. His $20 million yearly salary would pose a problem not only this season but next. I think the Pistons would want more assets than the Suns could offer.

I liked him when he played for the Nuggets. He reminds of a taller version of Torrey Craig. I think the Suns will look for more affordable depth or a player on an expiring contract.
