I'm not really surprised.

He is this generations Oliver Miller at this point.

I honestly think he may never play at a high level again. I think they made a big mistake not trading him at the deadline, I have a feeling his situation is only going to get worse.

There were probably no worthwile trade offers for Zion. He will be a RFA in 2023/24.

ON Steph you also have to remember the charity implications of him winning MVP. Because of the rules he raised 108K, 1000 for every point(50), 3000 for every 3 made(16) and 10K for MVP.

So he had a vested financial interest in it too. And remember, he was born in Akron Ohio

Weight + gait issues will be Zion’s downfall. Can’t see him having a healthy, sustainable career in the NBA.

It says an enormous amount about his professionalism that with a messed up foot he has put on weight instead of taken it off.

I actually get the vibe he may be a guy that doesn't really like being famous, and may be content to take his rookie contract and fade off into irrelevance.

JJ Reddick just called out Zion saying he's an awful teammate, which isn't too surprising. Sucks for NO.

I will add this here as well. Jevon Carter plans to sign with Bucks.

Damn it, Bulldog! Come back here instead. I know reportedly there is no interest in Carter from the team but still...

Trail Blazers waive Dennis Smith Jr. and are signing two-way player Trendon Watford to a new four-year contract.

Smith Jr looked like a budding superstar for much of his rookie year. What a collapse.

Yeah, I've been so desperate for point guard depth I even thought about him but it looks like he will be out for awhile.

Remember when the NBA was pimping Zion as the future of the NBA and ignoring Book?

Pepperidge Farm remembers
If zion was motivated, healthy and in shape there is no doubt he is a superior talent to Booker.

The pimping was justified.

Zion hadn't shown motivation.

That would be an interesting discussion - Book or Zion - higher ceiling.

Zion has the higher ceiling, without a doubt. Book's floor is much higher though. Booker is my favorite player in the NBA right now but there's really no comparing upside of Zion to him. Zion has more upside than virtually anyone in the league but he lacks motivation.

That’s not much of a discussion, IMO. Talent wise, Zion has the higher ceiling. But his injuries and motivation make it much harder to hit that than for Booker to hit his, which I believe is lower.

But there’s no question I’d take Booker at this point, despite the ceiling disparity.

Probably wouldn’t have said that halfway thru last season when Zion was beasting all over the place. I’m pretty dubious of his ability to get back to that level at this point.

The NBA has had a million of those guys come through the door.

I find the "has a higher ceiling" but lacks health and motivation to be conflicting

How are those things conflicting? Ceiling is about potential. Zion showed an insane amount of potential prior to his body falling apart and his will to work through it was revealed. There's a reason he was viewed as a top prospect while Booker wasn't even a starter on his college team or consistently in his rookie year with the Suns until injuries opened up more minutes for him.
The NBA has had a million of those guys come through the door.

And how many Devin Booker's have we seen? A lot more. What sets Book apart is his work ethic and desire. There isn't anything special about him in terms of athleticism or his physical stature.

We haven't seen a million Zion's either unless you mean busts. What sets him apart were his insane athleticism, strength, and size. Physically we hadn't seen anyone like him since Barkley, who was amongst NBA's 50 & 75 greatest players.
