Unless Payne is their back-up plan to start at the 1...
Dude....it's a great contract no matter what. You are not going to find a "back-up" plan at the price the Suns can afford. Seriously with this?!?!?

As I mentioned before, I LOVE the Payne contract. My point was just that it doesn't necessarily mean CP3 is returning.

Chris Paul signs with Suns, 4 years 120 million.

I disagree. There is no way you sign Payne not knowing the dollars Paul is going to cost you. There is the chance that the deal turned out way below the teams expectations but I doubt that. The Suns know what Paul is going to cost them.

Update: There it is. I told you.

Yeeeeeeikes! That fourth year is... ouch.

okay... gotta load up for the next two years to win a chip to make that last year easier to swallow.

We gotta scramble to find out what the "over 38" rule is, because it definitely applies on that last year.

That fourth year is likely what put the Suns over the top. This contract is going to haunt us in 3 and 4 but it had to be done. I knew the Paul deal was a done deal. It's only made sense after announcing Payne first.
