Well that is true, but most of the great scoring performances are from jump shooters though, and the changes in defense affect that much less.

WHere I suspect Finito is going with his comment, and if so I agree, is that because of the way they call fouls for getting close to the shooter sometimes now, defenders can't close out as much.

Although some of it just they're insanely good too.

Yeah hand checking being taken away was huge you literally have to give them space now.

But like Proximo says it’s hard to defend a guy just pulling up from 35’ and chucking it.

He said he heard a pop. Hopefully, he didn't make it worse by continuing to play on it. Yikes. So much for the Lakers making any kind of push.

LaMelo Ball has reportedly suffered a fractured right ankle in tonight's game against Detroit.

The Lakers really helped their roster recently. Lebron is amazing but they still might make the play in.

He wasn't going for 60 or 70 but once Dame got it rolling tonight Steve Kerr said that's enough. Early 3rd they put Donte on him in a box and 1 and stayed with it the rest of the quarter. Dame was so frustrated he committed 2 bad fouls at the other end got 4 fouls and then had to sit. Portland had 40 points in the second half, largely due to the box in 1. Last time I saw a team do that for that long was when Toronto did it to Curry in the finals a few years ago when they had Kawhi and won the title. Lillard only scored 6 points after they went to the box.

Mavs suck and it’s only a matter of time before Luka asks out.

Terrible trade, I get the idea that Kyrie helps them when Luka is resting, but on the court at the same time, they just stomp on each other’s toes, it’s a terrible pairing.

Now 1-5 together. If they keep that up they won’t even make the playoffs.

If Jason Kidd wasn't a terrible person I'd feel bad for him having to coach Kyrie and Luka. Two PG's that are very different from the player he was. I think that's why Brunson and Dinwiddie did so well in Dallas though, they more resembled Kidd as a player as far as big physical PG's who used their size, BB IQ, and physicality to their advantage. Both were more traditional passing guards as well while Kyrie and Luka are ball dominant dribblers who will bounce the air out of the ball while looking to create for themselves first, second, and third. They are different in how they produce points but they're the same in their selfish style.

Kidd was also an All-NBA defender. Kyrie can, occasionally, get engaged on defense, Luka on the other hand, can barely pretend to try.

I watched that Laker game, Luka's effort in the 4th quarter was stunning. On defense he was covering no one on most plays, he'd walk vaguely towards a corner and stand there, paying no attention to what was happening behind him, just seeing if a rebound might come his way. On offense, if he didn't have the ball he pretty much stood about 4 feet behind the 3pt line and didn't move.

Maybe it was an off night, maybe he is trying to default to Kyrie right now, but it was a bad look. Ayton looked like a workaholic in comparison. He's a massive talent but an odd dude. He honestly doesn't seem to give half a crap unless he has the ball in his hands.

In hindsight I wish we could’ve pulled off a Ayton/Turner swap last summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if JJ was asking for picks and Indy was only content on paying DA rather than paying AND trading assets for him. Plus they got him on a reasonable extension. Imagine the spacing and rim-protection with KD on board.

I am guardedly curious about how AD will look with Durant on the floor. I almost said guardedly optimistic, but that is too much.

As good as Luka is offensively he has been equally bad defensively at times. Did you watch the Laker game? I watched him at times barely leave his feet multiple times to defend the opposing player's shot. There were also a handful of times guys just dribbled around him. I don't think Luka scares anybody on defense.

Luka is basically a point forward. And his basketball IQ is very high. He’s averaging 8+ assists. I don’t view Dinwiddie as a PG. Brunson for sure, but not Dinwiddie.

Luka definitely can be described as selfish but the team around him aside from Kyrie, no one can create their own shot besides THJ. Mavs are 1-7 without him so he definitely has a higher burden on him. They should’ve kept Brunson or imo, given up a haul for Dame. I think he’d fit better with Luka than Kyrie. Whether they could’ve gotten him or not is a different story.
