On The Dame to Miami rumors apparently the Blazers are indicating they want Jaime Jaquez Jr to be included in the trade. He had a really nice debut today in Summer League I'm hoping for his sake Miami keeps him and includes guys like Herro or Strus etc in the deal. Miami is a much better run organization than Portland IMO.

Hard to hate on Dame for wanting out he's been loyal, put in the time but they're not going anywhere this year too young so move him to Miami

Strus signed with Cleveland so he's no longer a trade piece.

Still ten dimes for a dollar type deal. Looking at the KD/AD/PG/Mitchell type deals it’s not even close from Miami.

Has the Dame trade put a hold on free agency? Where the free agents left out there wants to see the change in landscape before signing.

I want Portland to leave Miami with nothing but Jimmy and Bam - that's the way it should go.

Portland can absolutley get a better package from the Nets or Spurs in terms of draft picks, or they could get someone like Jalen Brown or Maxey. Just because Dame wants to go to Miami should not mean they get him for peanuts.

Yes, I want this to happen somewhat because the Suns used all their assets up on Durant, and yes I want the Suns to win the chip if we meet them in the finals.

I do find it funny that a week ago Dame was smack talking our big three, now he wants to go join his own.

What free agents are you referring to, all that is left is pretty much garbage. The only exception to that that I am aware of is Oubre who isn't that highly thought of.

Just haven’t seen much movement. Oubre, Christian Wood, Grant Williams and Dario are just a few names that are out there. Still some good in the pile of trash. Not talking about for us to pick up. Just haven’t seen much movement since the trade demand.

I think things may slow down for a while since teams want to evaluate needs, the holes filled in the draft and further evaluate the value of remaining free agents. Those left are still seeking more money or a home.

Also, summer league has started as well.

Of course, a Damian Lillard trade could get things rolling again and shuffle rosters.

I remember seeing GMs talking court side in past summer league games. Some work gets done there I believe.

Yeah, lots of conversations go on in the summer league. It's like a who's who.

A Heat trade package will realistically include some combination of these pieces:
Miami assetsHeat 2028 and 2030 1sts
Heat 2027 and 2029 swaps
Tyler Herro
Nikola Jovic
Jaime Jaquez rights
Kyle Lowry expiring

That's not much for a superstar that just averaged 32.2 points on 64.5 TS%—both career highs.

Brooklyn is the other team Dame expressed interest in. The Nets could easily outbid Miami's best offer:
Brooklyn assets
Nets 2029 1st
Mavs 2029 1st
Suns 2025, 2027, and 2029 1sts
Suns/Nets swap in 2028
Nets swap in 2030
Noah Clowney rights
Dariq Whitehead rights
Day’Ron Sharpe
Cam Thomas
Ben Simmons

The Nets can offer more and still have leftover assets to go make another move, whereas Dame to the Heat would be Miami's final big move.
They should change the rules, where the players would have to eat $ to facilitate trades. Why should PDX have to take on 30M+ of crappy salary. Lillard should eat salary like people in the real world have to do if they want change. If im PDX i am only taking players they want and or players that could be moved for other assets, not simply salary filler

Excellent point on the flopping change. The offensive player has all the advantages now.

I’ve often thought if the defensive player went down underneath the offensive player backing him down, that would stop a lot of that.
Its obvious to anyone with eyes that offensive players are initiating the contact. In my mind if a player charges into a defender who is in between them and the rim its a no call. They need to quit stopping the game for stupid FT attempts - no one is watching to see FT attempts

unless your team is down by one with .02 left on the clock and your 70 percent free throw shooter is stepping to the free throw line for two free throws then I watch:)

The offensive player has the advantage in today's game. They are getting away with lowering the shoulder into the defender and hooking with the off arm.

It's so frustrating to see a player like Luka just bang his way to the basket and be rewarded for it.

Also, the inconsistency in the calls is just as infuriating.

Even centuries ago when I played Basketball, I hated that call. I feel whoever initiates the contact is probably the person who commits the foul. I hated when I played defense a guy could just run into you and get on the free throw line. Heck, this year I saw Harden, I think it was, fake like he was going to pull up and shoot, so the big in the lane turned to rebound, Harden then ran into the guys back, basically jumped on the guys back, shot, and got free throws! The guy was not even guarding him! You can't stand on a spot, not guarding someone, and yet be called for a foul? WTF? LMAO!

If I'm Portland, I'm demanding Bam Adebayo in return for Lillard. Nurkic has been a weakness because of injuries.

The weird thing to me is I actually think Scoot and Lillard would be a great back court together.

I would love for us to make this happen somehow. Do you think there is any possibility?
He's gotta pass 48 hours for the waiver period, I believe. Then he's a free agent. At that point we could sign him to a vet minimum deal. Probably will have to waive a couple guys, because we supposedly have 16 guys under normal contracts now. Yes, it could happen. IDK, if we could sign Bol Bol to a two way contract now that he's already been on a regular NBA contract.
